And even then, 127's "full japanese album" had like 6 actual new japanese songs, the rest was korean stuff they had already released, Regular english version, etc. Not to mention NCT Dream's mini that the only japanese thing It had was... The release. On almost 5 years, NCT as a whole has released less than 15 japanese songs, that's not really trying, SM only cares about Japan when It comes to touring since years ago and It shows, it's a secondary market for them when It comes to album sales.
bts has also released less than 15 japanese songs their whole career, the rest was all japanese versions of korean songs

bighit always pushed the relatable image on bts, tons of contents and lyrics to people to relate. sm has a mold since they started the kpop business (thought they are changing to adapt the new trends) their idols are perfect, perfect visuals perfect manners etc (and sometimes even robotic) they have idols to people to idolize not to relate to and this worked on asia market not so much in the western world where kpop already has this plastic image
