Disagree a bit. What an artist needs is skill and star power (which is charisma). What their image and personality are would be branding, which are distinct from charisma and skill and is what makes them distinct from another skilled or charismatic artist. Skill and charisma are the engines, and personality and image are the coat of paint in other words. Marketability depends on skill, star power, image, and personality; the latter two can be made up by the artist and company. Promotion is as you said.
All four factors don't really matter without promotion though. It's why big 4 idols have such a large advantage. There are probably nugu idols with tons more skill and charisma than famous ones, but they don't have the opportunities or even attention to show it.
It’s true promotion is important but I believe marketability is still the most important. We have seen artistes heavily promoted still fail to survive in the music industry. But artistes with great marketability who are promoted are mostly guaranteed to make it. It’s still the IT factor that makes or breaks your longevity in this current sphere

Star power includes the artist’s image, charisma and personality which can attract fans. Star power and Branding are heavily intertwined. It’s literally how the public sees you and that’s the part you showcase. Marketability literally refers to how appealing you are to the general public which depends on your inherent abilities. It’s your potential.
Promotion is what I believe you are confusing with marketability, which refers to the active effort and strategies to sell or make the public aware of your marketability. That visibility aspect is what is handled by the company.

Disagree. The most important thing is marketability/brand.
Does star power even matter If the idol is in the wrong group for them and the agency has 0 intentions to showcase/enhance their strengths? They might set themselves apart within their own group, but hardly will hit the masses.
Marketability and branding literally falls under star power

I don't think so. I think there should be a middle ground between them .
I mean he didn’t necessarily say that vocal ability is not needed. He said that star power is the most important which is true. At the end of the day, to survive in the music industry, you need to stand out and have great marketability. There are so many great vocalists who don’t make it. The superstars we know, both old and new, have something more than just vocals that draw people to them

Come on
I may not like this man but this is an undeniable fact.

Tiny scooter.
Woman died under her house. Don't even need 500m.
I bet people won't be saying the same thing if it was their family member who died to a tiny scooter. And the man was sober.
I do think it is not as serious and dangerous as a car, but people making up excuses by saying it is just a scooter is .....
Why does every opinion have to be so extreme? In this world, anything can be dangerous—people have even died from riding bicycles. It feels like everyone is either blowing things way out of proportion or downplaying them. Just stick to the facts and stop with all the "what if" scenarios. No one is punished based on what could have happened, but rather on the actual consequences of their actions. So, let's stop bringing up things that didn’t happen alright??

I don't think people in this thread said he's an alcoholic? People were saying that he likes to drink. We know he enjoys it, he even said he had written music while consuming alcohol. There's suchwita too.
But enjoying alcohol doesn't mean being alcoholic. I have a friend who can drink A LOT, he really has high alcohol tolerance level, but he's not an alcoholic. He drinks when he wants as much as he wants but he doesn't need alcohol on a daily to function. But i also have an alcoholic cousin, he starts drinking the moment he opens his eyes, he doesn't drink only when he sleeps. He's a terrible person in general.
Having said that; i wish all Koreans toned down with their alcohol habit. Said friend worked with koreans (they came to my country). Like i said he really has a high tolerance level but was shocked at how much they could drink. What even more shocked him is how perfectly fine they were tomorrow lol.
I honestly don't think suga is alcoholic. He was just stupid and irresponsible.
Eta: and even if someone said, and i don't remember, that was based on the report that he was found passed out on the streets, alone. Hope he sues them.
I studied a bit of psychiatry and we have something called the CAGE theory for alcoholism
C— the patient has admitted trying to cut down their alcohol consumption but failed several times(Yoongi has not opened up so far about this. If any instance he did, lemme know)
A— Annoyed that people in their life are complaining about their alcohol intake (I haven’t seen anyone on screen complain about Yoongi consuming alcohol)
G— Feeling guilt everytime you consume alcohol (If anything Yoongi has shown us so far he enjoys drinking so I doubt he feels guilt. Even right now he feels more guilt towards breaking the law and disappointing his fans. Next time he will just drink and order a ride later)
E— Early morning drinking. You take alcohol in the morning to serve as an eye-opener or to get rid of hangover (Yoongi has not shown anything like this)
If the patient answers yes to 2 or more questions, then they have a potential alcohol problem. There are other more fine criteria like the DSM 4/5 but the general one is usually the CAGE system .

Storing them for some good friend until they return

People are too casual throwing the word alcoholic around. Especially for an uninformed mistake. If this man knew electric kickboard with seat counted as a proper vehicle and could get him into legal trouble, he wouldn’t have driven it. It’s the same case as someone being surprised you could be charged with dui whiles riding a bicycle.
Therefore, blaming his use of the electric kickboard on having a lapse in judgment due to alcohol is completely misguided. In his apology letter, he clearly stated that he was unaware of a law like this. His issue is more stipped in ignorance rather than alcoholism.

korean forums like fmkorea, theqoo and smaller forums(didn't even seem to make it to front page of most of them)
i don't really browse kpop reddit twitter or translation sites unless there's something i'm really interested in
public opinion is still very bad there, most are saying it's worse or makes no difference. some are claiming hybe media play and stuff like that
Public opinion isn’t bad. Check netizen buzz where they have translated comments under articles, the gp is telling him to sue jtbc and are empathizing with him. They all agree he should be penalized for the dui but the witch hunt and misinformation should be addressed and kmedia should be penalized too
