Hive refutes again, "Min Hee-jin, absurd sophistry over illegal law... Realize your mistake and take care of yourself" [Full text]
The following is Hive's full statement.
Hello, this is Hive.
We would like to explain the official position released by CEO Min Hee-jin on the afternoon of the 10th.
CEO Min Hee-jin is making an absurd argument, saying, 'It is legitimate to receive compensation for the performance of highly competent 'internal' talent from 'external'.' This is not customary, it is illegal.
If a flexible compensation system is necessary, the company must receive it and pay it back as an incentive fairly. Representative Min dismissed the attempt to seize management rights as 'Saddam', but now he is insisting that the illegality is 'practice'.
In a conversation with Adore management, CEO Min said about the team leader's misconduct, "Don't you eat the blood of advertising alone? Don't you think that the assistants work without being paid and that this is a problem? In fact, when we first allowed it, we didn't even realize this. “I failed to think seriously about the problem,” he said.
This part shows that CEO Min is fully aware that there is a problem with the company members doing the work and the team leader keeping the profits for himself.
This issue was initially recognized in February of this year when the Hive HR team, which was suspicious that the team leader's incentive was set at 0 won, inquired with Adore. At the time, Adore only explained, "It's a custom, we're trying to improve it," and said nothing. No explanatory materials were submitted. After reviewing the circumstantial evidence discovered during the audit, we were able to identify serious misconduct.
We also explain about the interview with Adore's team leader that was published in a certain media outlet.
The audit, which took place on the evening of the 9th, was conducted in a non-coercive atmosphere, and the team leader expressed his willingness to cooperate voluntarily and even submitted a laptop kept at home.
We once again express our strong regret over CEO Min's actions of putting a team leader-level employee, whose identity must be strictly protected, at the forefront.
In situations where illegal activity is suspected, the company has the right to verify the facts. Rather, forcing a party involved in illegal activity to withdraw cooperation would be considered inappropriate intervention. We once again strictly urge Representative Min to realize his mistakes and take responsibility for himself.
