But YTB streams are also low while months ago the number one song could pull 10M views in a week.

Spotify has been a thing since 2020 and it still far behind Bugs and AM is irrelevant in Korea.

Didn’t say everyone and their mama changed just a portion of them change and I don’t know by how much and it is of course not the theory of everything 💀 just want to share the story I had with my friend and what he said duh

Well I said it could go below 300k in a couple of weeks but it might be in a couple of days at this point. I guess it will become more stable at some point but low, really low.

We can think about the chart changes and that stuff all we want but we're never going to find an explanation to something so weird that literally the digital music market of a country has fallen around a 50% in a span of 6 months. Something like that should even be noticeable in the real life of people, maybe they'll post smth in Circle's Youtube channel explaining something or at least analyzing it because the situation is tragic at this point.

I'm trying to think about other possibilities like people using tiktok or reels instead of listening to music in their free time but that has been happening for 4? 5? years now, I don't know.

I have a Korean friend and he said he switched to youtube music recently. And seems like a lot of Korean also switch to the international platforms (YTM, AM, Spotify) as it is easier for them to access now compare to the past. He said the payment and the convenient of these platforms are better for him. For YT he can easily searches, watches multiple type of videos and stream the music that he want and with less cost. Like they only have that much of people to consume music and now if users decided to switch to other platforms then the number will not be that high like it used to be. Kr people are now open to international things way more compare to the past and they prefer Iphone over their own beloved Samsung now.

If yall don't know the history of this it is all started from that one MC called Antifragile - After Life and Dives and Fearnots started to thrown rock at each other. In the middle of the fight, Dives called Perfect Night western validation when LSRF doing their promotion in the US and I think Fearnots are giving back the energy. That is all BS but well at least stan twts are alive I guess.

Anyway, Perfect Night just reached 1000 hours #1 on melon. What kind of hit a song is is still a subjective topic, you can debate it all day with all kind of metrics whatsoever. But these kind of records you cannot change or debate.

ONLY songs that have spent 1,000 or more hours at #1 on Melon Top 100/24Hits in HISTORY:

    BTSDynamite

    IU — Celebrity

    BraveGirls — Rollin'

    Younha — EventHorizon

    NewJeansDitto

    (G)I-DLE — Queencard

    AKMU - Love Lee

    LE SSERAFIM — #PerfectNight

So could you educate me what data/medias should I look at to identify a genuine hit song in SK? For example if you are a foreigner to my country, you cannot look at the charts, news or any type of medias to know which songs are hitting with the gp at the moment cause it will not be there, they don't even use those songs on big variety shows. News don't really care to post about those hit songs cause it's not a big deal to anyone at all tbh. I don't even know how to identify a hit song from my country tbh cause it's all over the place and we don't even have charts like SK, just numbers from youtube, spotify, tiktok, apple music. And songs that I see a lot on multiple platforms are so random like songs from decades ago so I don't genuine know which songs are hits in my country at the moment at all, please educate me. And it could be different to each of the country depends on multiple factors.

So on that note, who are we decided which songs are hitting on SK if we're not even Korean and we will we never likely have the data to see the whole picture.

A lot of you are double standard when it comes to lsrf and it shows. A #1 song is a #1 song, it stays at the top for more than 40 days despite all the big names comes and goes for a reason, survived xmas (actually it's the only song charting in top 10 during xmas season showing gp is really vibe with it even at holiday season). Song used to reach more than 1M ULS a day before and after that it normalized at 400-500k but I don't see yall complaining that those songs are not as big as it used to be??? It's just the chart changed and lsrf have a #1 at that exact moment like when it changed from 1M to 700k to 500k. Chart will be like this from now on, no other songs will reach more than 350k uls anymore so stop discrediting lsrf.

I’ll be shocked if they surpass Queencards number of hours at #1

3 more days OMG. Imagine an English game collab song with barely any SK promotion took the top 1 on melon hours, surpassing all the hot/big names with their official kr comebacks. That is hella impressive if you think about it actually. Will there be another song like PN in the future? I doubt it.
