However, it makes me pretty uncomfortable to think Soojin’s whole career could be ruined because of something that happened when she was 13. I understand if it is a serious sexual or violent assault, but otherwise it seems a bit Orwellian to me that people are retrospectively punished and “cancelled” for things they did when they were children. How can people ever change if they get attacked for anything bad they ever did, often by people who are just looking to ruin someone, instead of actually caring.
it’s complicated... because I know that bullies can change over time, to become better persons. maybe soojin did. but still, my trauma, and all of the victims of bullying’s trauma will remain, wether our bullies have apologised or not. the thing is, from the moment our bullying started, our lives were going to be impacted for ever while our bullies will be thriving and idk if we can accept that
