Actually it is pretty well-known now that Jang Wonyoung's dad is a Hwagyo (Chinese-Korean) named Jang Wal Seung who is the owner of a popular Chinese restaurant.
But her grandfather is Jang Young Seung who also runs a popular restaurant in Seoul and was also the General Secretary of the Association of Overseas Chinese in Korea. He is involved with Seoul local politics and in getting Hwagyo votes for prominent politicians.
Wonyoung is Hwago, ethnic Chinese-Korean. Just like Joe Biden is ethnic Irish-American.
BTW, even the "pro" Wonyoung KNETZ sound like a bunch of racists. "She's only 1/4 Korean." Like any higher percentage of Chinese is bad?
Both her father and grandfather run Chinese restaurants in Seoul. Her grandfather was actually the General Secretary of the Chinese in Korea Association. Koreans should just accept who Wonyoung is instead of dissecting her ethnicity. Seriously how well could anyone tell a Korean-Chinese mix from a full Korean? Can people identify a Irish-English from a
There had been a story since PD48 that her family -- not Wonyoung -- asked Starship to repost her name in Korean after they initially released it as Chang Yuanying to MNET. They knew that the Korean anti-Chinese crowd would have made it hard for her. They were not wrong.
Yuehua's Zhou Xinyu (GP999 and Great Dance Crew) has incredible visuals. She's 5'9" with a runway model's body. Tall idols seem to be a CPOP thing more so than KPOP:
I've been learning lately that I'm just obsessed with the Chinese beauty standard and visuals. It really makes me wanna get into mandopop but if I'm just not finding the right artists😭
Chinese beauty standards actually started earlier than the Korean ones with Hong Kong and Taiwan CPOP, movies and dramas in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. But Korea codified their standards to a better degree once Hallyu took off.
For visuals and music in CPOP, you might want to look into groups like the Bon Bon Girls

There is a reason why literally all the big branded company around the world love China market... Only kpop fans would think China is ''non-profitable''....
Not really, only KPOP IFans who think their "streaming" is more important than the real money that comes from Chinese bulk buys.
Koreans who are actual KPOP fans (not Korean nationalists using KPOP as clout) have always known this since the beginning of Hallyu which started in China.
I think enough people know now that it's unnecessary to hide. When Wonyoung was in PD48 and then IZ*ONE, her background wasn't really exposed due to people respecting her wishes.
But a lot of Koreans know and have gone to their family restaurant and also know her parents so it should be okay.
So okay, Jang Wonyoung's dad is a Hwagyo (Chinese-Korean) named Jang Wal Seung who is the owner of a popular Chinese restaurant. That is already discussed here.
But her grandfather is Jang Young Seung who also runs a popular restaurant in Seoul and was also the General Secretary of the Association of Overseas Chinese in Korea. He was involved with Seoul politics and in getting Hwagyo votes for prominent politicians.
Ah thanks for the additional information! Now are you sure it's her mom who's Korean? The KProfiles site actually says the opposite:
"Her father is ethnically Korean but grew up in Taiwan while her mother is part Taiwanese and part Korean."
Pretty sure. People who know them have been to her dad's restaurant and they said he had never hid that he was Hwagyo but understand why his daughter does not highlight the fact.
His restaurant is authentic Chinese food. It has Chinese characters that state prominently it is Chinese:

Starship actually released Wonyoung Chinese name (Chang Yuanying) to MNET and the press initially. They did this because Koreans (and other East Asians) usually take a patriarchal position where you are what your dad is. Her paternal grandfather was actually the leader of The Overseas Chinese Association (or something like that) in Korea.
BTW, Wonyoung loves her dad and never did anything to reject his heritage and people think it was Wonyoung's family that asked Starship to change the name back to Korean a day after releasing it in Chinese form. They didn't want her to her to be impacted.
So I've heard multiple people claim that she's part Taiwanese. I just did a quick Google search, and this site states: "She is part Taiwanese and her name in Chinese is Chang Yuanying (張員瑛)."
Her mom is Korean but her dad is hwagyo, a Chinese-Korean, who was born in Korea but whose parents came from Shandong, China. Because of politics, most hwagyos who came from mainland China have Republic of China (Taiwan) passports even though they might never been to Taiwan.
Hwagyos were heavily discriminated against despite running restaurants that created Korea's iconic jajiang noodles dish. This video gives you some understanding of the issues:
This might be whyWonyoung had avoided identifying too much with the Chinese side in Korea. It might affect her career. Hwagyos and Choseonjoks (ethnic Koreans from China) are treated even worse than Chinese from China by Koreans.

You make absolutely sense. Before physical boom a lot of GG we’re doing bad with album sales maybe the exception was SNSD, twice, izone, and BP.
GG have always been GP darlings the argument that only album sales makes money is tiring and false. When most GG are rich just because they’re doing great charting and streaming wise.
Most GGs are not "rich." GGs members are never paid until their 3rd or 4th year. Except for Big 3 (like Aespa and BP,) GGs struggle despite streams. EverGlow is a prime example look at their monstrous streams.
The only other ways to make money besides sales are touring and CFs. Unless you are paying Itunes to buy and download a song (a full 99 cents!), streaming is basically advertisement. In fact, it doesn't even make money but uses up money because a company buy ads to pump up downloads and views.
Streaming is only important to teenagers who think they are "supporting" their faves by listening and watching and not spending money.
you think the sales will go to your favs, when most of the sales will go to the company and the songwriters.
Before being million seller BP were rich because they were doing great in Korea. Back to back hits, this is why they don’t need to cb every year to make banks.
If the company don't get paid then they will not hire song writers and they disband your faves. KPOP is a business. It is all about sales and about money. It is not folk music.
Hallyu itself is an export scheme supported by the Korean government because Korea needs to export to stay wealthy. If things don't bank they get canceled.
