Yes. Lilac MV on the 25th and Coin MV on the 26th.
It's a bit weird why they didn't release Coin as a pre-release instead
-
So the mv will actually be released one day after the full album/song, presumably LILAC mv will be released on 25th.

what is protege
Something lika a favorite. She took special care of and helped Sakura (and Nako as well), like an older sister. Helped them get on tv shows etc. Sashi's fandom was very aware of this so when she didn't run for the last election many of her fans voted for Sakura/Nako instead, they got a huge increase of votes because of it.

Probably because she was already a famous idol with a huge existing fanbase in japan years before produce, where she debuted in 2012 iirc. She was ranked #3 in the whole of AKB when she joined the produce show, and one of the few younger akb members the public might recognize.
The ranking then was decided by election once a year, where one vote equaled one physical copy of their latest single which basically cost the same as a normal album. She had 141k votes, so around 140k physical copies were bought by her fandom just to vote for her in the last election. In total since her first election in 2012, she accumulated 313k votes.
It also probably didn't hurt that she was basically the protege of Sashihara Rino who was the number one in akb from 2013 until 2019 when she quit (over 1m votes in total for her alone were cast in the elections over the years).
AKB used to be the biggest and most successful idol group in Japan, with over 300 concurrent members, the top 7 (called kami 7) were basically everywhere and probably among the most recognized female celebrities in the country when akb was at its peak (2009-2014). And while they are not as popular anymore they still sell around 1-1,5m per single, 4m+ every year. -
Duh, I spend more time in chart threads than I do listening to actual music.
Melon chart before 2020 july chart change did include downloads, no ifs about it. And downloads were the primary way music was consumed until 2013 (price hike on downloads), and really only became irrelevant in the last three years.
Melon 24h is easy to understand, nothing hard about it, but none knows if downloads are somehow translated to UL's in the same way as it was before the reform, as downloads are still possible on melon it wouldn't be a surprise. None but melon knows exactly how it works now.
genie and bugs still include downloads and weigh those heavily in their chart, especially bugs. That's why its the chart with the biggest turnaround, and why genie is now the fandom fave, cause it is the second biggest chart that they can easily manipulate with downloads (see kang daniel, sechskies, goldenchild, Shinee etc these past weeks), basically all fandoms moved from dying soribada to genie.
The only services that don't do downloads are Flo and Vibe.

This aint gaon we are talking abt anymore. its melon and its charting wasnt affected by downloads. Exactly! small changes didnt make big differences. The only thing major that was changed was the zombie streaming
At the end of the day bp TRUMPS in talent, visual etc
Melon did use downloads in it charts, iirc 1 downlad = 100 streams or something like. I don't know about the new 24h chart tho, one could hope it doesnt count it as nowdays only fandoms download songs to boost initial charting.
-
No they are not, if you think that you know shit about korean charts. There's plenty of small changes, charts no longer existing, increased userbase (until 2020 at least), the massmove from downloads to streams in different stages which ofc also affects charting a whole lot when it comes to both initial charting and longevity, as well as UL's. The crackdown on bot/international melon accounts in 2015 etc etc.
-
Actually D4 was released in june even.
Digital points calculations change by the year and is also useless as a metric to compare different years with, and pre 2018 it wasnt even a thing, as streams and download numbers were still available then.
I feel this is just gonna drag on back and forth and is kinda pointless thing to argue about really, i don't really care for either group but i know most of blackpink's song and even listen to them sometimes while i can't remember a single sistar song.
Blackpink is now and have everything for them, while sistar disbanded long ago.
-
Im not really arguing against so ?
-
ok, i don't see that make much of a difference either way.
And time spent in week would have been very impressive,.had it been before melon chart change in july last year. Basically every hit song released after that have broken or are on their way to break the records for time spent in top 10/20 etc. It's why so many metrics now post 2020 are hard to compare with anything pre 2020, there's a new baseline being set right now because of the chart changes.

So stability doesnt matter?
2018 and 2017 were literally the year where a lot of songs got paks and insane longevity. Bp has only whistle,pwf,aiiyl,d4,hylt,ktl,lsg,boombayah and stay. Stay and boombayah were basically treated as side tracks. . Bp is the idol group to surpass 1million uls which was only done by iu and bb(if im not wrong). Fy is the most successful b side ever released and was only blocked by d4.. stability matters more than peak. Bp also dominates genie with d4 being the only gg song to surpass https://mobile.twitter.com/twi…tatus/1357131921055244289
https://mobile.twitter.com/cha…tatus/1356958193604308992
D4 alsp holds the most roofhits in genie for any gg song
Stability matters , in the first weeks/months anyway and if its in the upper end of the chart. But once again you are putting up a lot of stats that are a usless metric to compare with songs 5-8 years back. Had the charts stayed and worked exaclty the same sure.
The only good metric we have to compare with songs so far apart is chart ranks, and there blackpink have yet reached the same level of success with as many songs over as many years as sistar/twice/2ne1, that doesnt mean they won't reach/surpass it (im sure they will) or that they don't have songs that were bigger than any one of them.

The only groups that are more successful digitally than sistar in korea is Bigbang and Twice.
Gaon Digital Chart - Wikipedia
And bp have only released 20+ songs os far. Yet already have the longest charting gg songs in gaon 100 and longest charting gg song in digital/streaming chart for 5 consecutive years. Lsg literally every eats every gg song up in melon, vibe and flo. Lsg was only blocked by the biggest song in korean history. Bp as soloists are one of the best if not the best for 3rd gen(digitally and physically)
Blackpink have released 10 singles, of which 3 hit #1.
Sistar released a total of 12 singles, of which 9 hit #1.
Comparing longevity with songs released 5 years ago is useless. Basically every single hit song released in the last few years gets more weeks in top 100 than most songs pre 2017 because the charts are so different and much slower.
same with saying they are the fastest group to enter melon top ten 24h chart, as if that means anything when comparing different eras and the 24h chart has only existed for 9 months and sistar last release was in 2017.
-
and your source isdownload (12).jpeg
People can lie ..numbers dont. Bp trumps sistar digitally and have gp support. I wanna see if any sistar member are brave enough to release an english album where the tt and the b side enters melon. No to mention otg literally tied with dyna for the fastest to enter top 10 on melon. Internationally comparing bp with sistar is pure tomfoolery
Domestically, sistar had nine gaon #1 in a row before they quit, something only rivaled by twice and 2NE1 (also nine), that's basically bigbang level(10). Blackpink have 3 (so far)

Yes, the internet claim doesn't really make much sense
95% of the population use internet, and they have among the highest average speed in the world, paying about 30usd for it which is nothing really for speeds over 100mbit, at least not if compared to other western countries that i know of.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_in_South_Korea
https://www.publicknowledge.or…-for-a-cheaper-price-tag/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…nternet_connection_speeds
I mean i could see someone having problem if they are using some public wifi or something

People tend to forget that korea was basically a dicatorship just 30 years ago.
That said, life expectancy, healthcare (and internet) is ranked among the best in the world. This will ofc depend on where you live and a part of the population is still very poor, some older people live in absolute horrific conditions.
The biggest problem south korea have today is their housing problem and its only getting worse by the year, and its a big problem when almost everything is concentrated to seoul, regular people can't afford to get housing near where they have to work. There's a huge corruption scandal regarding this right now and its dominating the news cylce, all those bullying scandals etc are basically forgotten , all talk is about housing and corruption.

I don't know much about CL but I think it does show what a difference the right management can do, at least in Jessie's case. Ever since she joined Psy's label she started going up, before she was a c-tier celebrity at best and now she's basically a b+ tier.
She hosts a youtube interview show that got so popular that it now has its own regular tv slot, appears constantly in all the popular variety shows, among them one of the biggest show with Jaesuk/Lee Hyori, at the same time she becomes a regular on another new show with Jaesuk that just recently got renewed for a season 2
So, for Jessie
+ Good management
+ A personality that melds extremely well with variety shows, helped along by having good chemistry with Jaesuk
+ Timing it with a song that tops the chart for the first time (ofc helped along by the above)
She's a multi entertainer that can host tv shows, entertain as a guest on any variety how and do music on top of it, its something that few can do so well, and all of it adds up.
From what I know CL is mainly an artist and that's it, now artists can ofc make it without the above but it becomes that much harder, that combined with less than ideal management and her own choices is probably why roles are so reversed today.

Cornrows and dreads i can see being CA for the most part today considering what groups mainly wears it, even if historically they have been worn by different cultures through the ages.
But braids? Braids have been donned by basically every single culture since dawn of man and is still done all over the world to this day, none can really claim ownership over that.
I also wouldnt expect any single native korean to know anything about stuff like this, there is nothing in their education or media that brings up stuff like this, their companies tho should now better when they are primarily trying to target a foregin, and today often western market.
