Mamamoo Hwasa is under controversy for "ignoring seniors."

On the 1st, singer Uhm Junghwa posted on her IG and wrote, "During Seoul Check-in, it was so nice to meet Hwasa after a long time because she's always busy and hard to contact. She always jokes "she's a senior" so we burst into laughter."

The clarification was due to recent 4th episode of 'Seoul Check-in' released on the 29th where Lee Hyori, Uhm Jung-hwa, BoA, and Hwasa had a drinking party at Kim Wan-seon's house. Hwasa told Junghwa, "If you go to Jeju, please call me too" and she replied, "Really? You're always busy, you never pick up my calls."

Lee Hyori added, "Hwasa is a kid that can afford to got to Paris with luxury bags. She's a global star, that's why she ignores us. Her senior is Beyonce, not us."

Netizens shared discomfort over the jokes and accused Hwasa of "ignoring her seniors."

In a recently released Wavve original 'MMM_Where are they now', Hwasa confessed to suffering from malicious comments and stated, "Will it be over if I die? I can only repay fans with music, that's all I can do. But it has gone past the point where I no longer like music and want to quit the industry."

Hwasa was also embroiled in "racism" controversy in 2020 after appearing on MBC's 'I Live Alone' wearing clothes similar to Nigerian traditional clothing. Foreign viewers shared strong criticisms over her outfit and she released an official position in English and apologized.

She also drew attention after she was spotted with 'No bra' fashion while leaving the airport for an SBS 'Super Concert' schedule in Hong kong in 2019. After her outfit caused controversy, she later stated "I have freedom and personal right to wear no bra" causing anger with the public.

  • I hope she gets the mental help she needs even if it means leaving Korea to do so. Despite her controversies, I really don't see malicious intent with her.

I think a good pr for her would be to do a question & answer with some of her critics. Like pull a few questions on the harsher side (constructively harsh obviously) from Twitter and maybe take a few calls (or a Tik Tok live where the kids are at, lol), because she seems to speak well in the ones I've seen of her.

I just think she has an IT factor that is hard to find these days that should not be thrown away off of something she CAN change.

  • This is so sad. It must be hard to live freely in a society that judges public people to the core and hate on people to compensate their own short comings. Also, people forget that a lot of people are on Social media. While they think ’I am the only one sending this’, it is in fact a whole army of people sending out hate. 1% seems small but 1% of 1 Mio. people are still 100k people
