what do you think about kpop "diss" tracks that aren't written by the group's members

    Approved the thread.
  • Hmm... I guess they don't come from a fully personal place, but they are still bops so idgaf.

  • all diss tracks are lame wether they're written by the group or not

  • As long as it's a good song I'm okay with it. At the end of the day, what's important is if it's a bop song or not.

You won't add songs into your playlist thinking if the artists wrote the songs themselves or not.

  • can still be good songs, but it's very embarassing when their stans go all "you tell them!"

it's one thing when it's general dissing like 'antis behind a little screen hating on people living their lives' or 'i'm very succesful no matter what people say!', but it's very funny to imagine (often male) producers/writers making lyrics like 'i'm so much hotter than you!' or 'born skinny bitch'.

  • Listen to this anti diss

  • In the case of Blackpink, they're close to Teddy, he knows the ins and outs of their lives, so he probably took the lyrics from what he knows about them, at least they fit, and it's not some generic "you don't know my story, you don't walk in my shoes".

I was about to comment the same thing.

  • It's not like the idols can't discuss these things with the writers and share ideas. Just because it wasn't physically written by them, it doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't represent them.

honestly I agree, I mean, Lisa "born skinny b*tch" was an obvious referance to her being skinny shamed.

Exactly. There's no pretence. The regular team behind BP are close to the members and Teddy's been there since their trainee days. It doesn't matter that they themselves didn't write them. It was written for them by people who know them and their situations well. Fans and haters alike know those aren't empty lyrics.

There's an implied condescension here, but if you actually dug deep into songwriting credits you would notice a huge pile of names behind songs by famous singer-songwriters. It's a team effort. Never more true than in kpop.

At the end of the day, credit is irrelevant if the artist doesn't embody the lyrics and the song doesn't speak to people.

  • But kpop fans already give their idols a pass on actually being artists, so I guess it's fine. Though anyone who actually appreciates artistry and the actual act of creating music, finds these idols a sham and a farce.

  • I think it's fantastic, whether they write it themselves or not.

The only people getting upset about these "diss" tracks (which is an absolute stretch anyway) are those pressed haters that generally harass the artists in the first place.

If it triggers you, good. Suffer in your jocks.
