    Take Me Home

    Part 2: Coffee House Date

The sun is shining brightly outside of Jisoo's house.

Yona is sitting by the kitchen table, having a headache after drinking too much last night.

"I thought about introducing you to a guy." Jisoo says, as she grabs orange juice from the fridge.

"A guy? What are you talking about?"

"I just think that you need a boyfriend."

    "But I don't need one."

"Wouldn't it be fun to have someone to hold hands with and kiss and all that stuff?" she asks as she pours the juice into a glass.

"I'd rather have a dog than a boyfriend."

"A boyfriend wouldn't be chewing your shoes."

"Didn't Irene's ex-boyfriend attempt to eat her leather jacket just because he thought it smelt like bacon?"

"Oh, I forgot about that. That guy was weird." Jisoo takes a sip from the juice. "But I thought about introducing you to a guy, who is my coworker's cousin."

"He doesn't eat shoes and leather jackets, right?"

    She giggles. "Of course not."

Then Jisoo grabs her phone and shows her a black-and-white picture of him.

On the picture, he is sitting on a chair wearing a black jacket and black trousers

    "He's handsome, right?" Jisoo asks.

    "Yeah, that's true." Yona answers.

    "His name is Dongyeol."

    "Nice name."

"And he also has a model name, which is Xiao."

"Is he a model?" she asks surprised.

"Yup, but don't worry, he cares more about personality than appearance when it comes to love, or at least that is what my co-worker said."

The next day, Yona is standing outside of the café, waiting for Dongyeol to arrive.

She wonders why she agreed on it, but perhaps she should give this guy a chance.

Then he sees someone wearing sunglasses and a cap walking towards her.

"You're Jung Yona, right?" he asks.

    "Yes."

"So you're the one my cousin talked about? Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Xiao."

    "Please call me Dongyeol."

    "Oh... sorry."

    "It's okay." he says.

They sit at a table together.

Her date is sipping earl grey tea and eating a croissant.

She is drinking rose tea and eating apple pie.

"What is your favourite book?" he asks.

"uhm... actually I don't read many books." she says.

"Me neither, but I'm starting to like this fantasy novel Mindnight by Goo Sehun"

    "What is that about?"

"About an amnesiac girl who falls in love with a pirate prince." he explains. "And that prince turns into a merman every midnight."

    "Sounds like an interesting plot."

"I find it kind of silly, but I can't wait for Goo Sehun to release a sequel to that book."

Seonghwa walks into the coffee house, feeling exhausted after having been working in the book shop.

    He walks to the counter.

    "An iced americano, please."

He looks around, and suddenly notices Yona sitting there.

He wonders who that guy she is sitting with is.

"My favourite book is Alice in Wonderland." she tells Dongyeol.

    "I like that book too."

"That book is a bit weird, but..." she wants to say something more, but then she notices Seonghwa.

And she starts thinking back on when she went to high school and got bullied.

One day, her hair and clothes had gotten wet, because some boys had poured cherry soda on her as a part of a prank.

She sat down on a bench in the hallway, crying.

Seonghwa walked past her, while holding a history textbook.

"Get off that bench, you're making it dirty." he says.

    She got up.

"You're such a crybaby, that's the reason why these guys keep bullying you."

"I want to go home." she said before sobbing.

"Go home? So you want to skip class and become a failure?"

Then he walked away from her.

"Yona?" Dongyeol says. "Are you okay?"

"Huh?" she responds. "Oh, sorry, I..."

    "It's okay."

Seonghwa drink all of of the americano, before he walks out of the coffee shop.

He wonders whether she remembers that night.
