Is Aespa the Twice of this gen and Ive the Bp?

    Aespa dominates two EA countries so hard just like Twice did at their peak while Bp followed after them with simultaneously dominating international numbers just like ive is doing following after Aespa but playing the field in global numbers. Discuss.

    Let's first see how IVE will do without extreme youtube ads usage and Spotify playlisting. Blackpink didn't need any of that stuff.


    When IVE start to rule the social media game and become big in insta etc next to international digitals, then we'll talk. Before that, looks like Aespa follow closer in BP's footsteps, going to Coachella is just the latest.

    IVE is popular both in Korea and the West and have been successful since debut just like Blackpink.


    aespa flopped at debut and had a national hit in their first comeback just like Twice and they have bigger sales just like Twice had.


    However IVE is much more popular in Japan too just like how Twice is more popular there than Blackpink.


    We will have to see if the new debuted girl groups will change the setting but as of now IVE seems to be aespa's main threat as #1 gg.

    Nah 2017 bp was not #2 in sk. You forgetting rv has a huge year with red flavor and made the Gallup poll ahead of bp. Even mamamoo was more popular both bp and mamamoo released the same time and mamamoo had higher 24hr ul. Aiiyl just ended up with much more longevity though.

    I got into KPop in 2016 and 3rd gen had already so firmly taken over that it's weird to see 4th gen groups trying to find a place for themselves in a market that's still dominated by 3rd gen.


    I think it's probable that 4th gen in general will live in 3rd gen's shadow, and that it will be 5th gen who get to break out and make it their own.

    People said the same about 2nd gen lol. That no other groups would be able to surpass Bigbang, SNSD, TVXQ.

    Yet Twice that was the first to surpass SNSD is now the the first that is being surpassed by 4th gen ggs. It's a cycle.
