Why are people already acting like Wonyoung is a 100% surefire, successful actress?

Nothing against her seriously. I genuinely am a huge fan since her PD48 days, but why are people acting like she's already a successful actress in the making?

Acting is a completely different field than idol performance, and I don't know if everyone knows this but simply being a pretty face does not make you a good actress. I have no idea if Wonyoung will be a good or bad actress, but I've seen some comments like "SK adores her so she's gonna be huge as an actress", "she's an it girl so Knetz will love whatever she does" etc.

If even Suzy and IU, who are significantly more popular and wellknown than Wonyoung, got hate for their acting (initially), what makes you think Wonyoung will get a free pass? Even Hyeri, who starred and was beloved for her role in Reply 1988, still gets criticised for almost all her roles after Reply.

Acting is no easy task, and the audience is very different to Kpop stans. If the idol underperforms, the fans won't be enough to shield their idol from criticisms.

If Wonyoung ever professionally starts acting, she might get hate or praise, but either way it will put her more in the spotlight, get her more attention and fame. I doubt she could be any worse than Suzy or Hyeri.

Who said that? You probably saw only one person saying this and instead of quoting and ask them directly you make a thread generalizing when I never seen anyone say this but you.

For IU, nobody is complaining about her acting in the past 5 years.. but yes initially.

Suzy and Hyeri still get flak for essentially playing the same character over and over.

As to Wonyoung, nothing can be predicted until she is actually tested. It is premature to predict her success or failure.,

Visual beauty alone is hardly enough.

Jisoo did not get much kudos for Snowdrop, from outside the fandom. Compared to say Bona, even excluding Sejeong, who has many project in her resume now.

Whether Wonyoung will excel like IU, manage like Suzy or suck at acting.. is all speculative

Wonyoung has a "actress" face and physique so she'll be fine. There will always be haters but she'll have no problems getting roles.

I see Yujin doing acting instead of Wonyoung tbh.

But if Wonyoung wants to do acting she should wait a little or start with guest/supporting roles to test the waters.

I've literally never seen anyone mention Wonyoung doing acting aside from that one troll who was going on about "It girls do acting". From what I saw the majority of dives, especially on the Korean side, they usually only mention Yujin when it comes to acting. Wonyoung is my favorite but even I've never really thought about her doing any serious acting. I actually feel like she doesn't suit it, but if she did pursue it, she'd probably be successful as she is in all things she chooses to pursue since she's such a diligent person.

As for skill-wise, even if she was bad at it, it's not as if South Korea ever cared about acting skills that much so long as you have the face and the name recognition for it. So many actors are known for their bad acting but still get cast. But again, Wonyoung is a hard worker, and with the may she is strict with her image and so business-minded, I don't think she would be terrible at it.

She's really good looking, and she has great, powerful facial expressions and good control over them.

Those are powerful strengths to have for an actress.
