Or was the Produce scandal the final straw for any future partnership again?
Will Mnet ever work with AKB48 again?

I would welcome it with the 46 groups. A lot of girls in japanese groups are wasted. Still to this day I don't know why Japan isn't looking at Kpop and thinking why aren't we doing this shit? Why do we let our best japanese talents go to korean agencies if we could just do it ourselves?

46G are more relevant in JPN anyway so I'd be a win-win

In a way the did, but with SNH48 on Girls Planet 999
That’s where the Liang Twins are from

???? No it wasn’t
Akimoto was trying to use P48 to open up Korea to the idea of a Korean AKB branch. But instead, they ended up with a bunch of knetz boycotting the show and a bunch of racially charged controversies like that one with Miu and Ito Hirobumi blowing up in Naver and the general public. I still remember the anti-Japanese sentiments being HUGE during the show, and even to present day, knetz still spam Sakura as being a Right Winger.
It failed because it did basically the opposite of what Akimoto wanted with the show. It didn't help to alleviate Korean/Japanese tensions at all.
