Why do you think KPOP is so popular in Southeast Asian countries?

There is still common cultural element and familiarity in kpop for them to prefer it over western content while it is better funded than their own media.

From what I can tell, there’s not much of an idol presence in those countries as a whole (tho they have some groups, Philippines increasing with it), so they are drawn to Kpop. I remember Jpop, or at least AKB48, being very huge amongst Indonesian fans, to the point where JKT48 happened
