Did itzy have the capability to go head on head with black pink?

    In Korea? Definitely. Bp was in their ‘flop’ (I’m using this lightly) era bc of the burning sun scandal. Ktl is one of their worse charting songs.


    Itzy had a smash debut with dd if they’d followed it up with another hit it would solidified them as top 3 gg in Korea, behind twice and rv. If they’d charted well in 2020 they could’ve gone head to head with bp there.

    They never had the chance to compete with Blackpink after a song like Dalla Dalla. It's just not a song non-kpop fans enjoy. Whistle and Playing With Fire were.

    IMO not really. They have a typical JYP girls next door vibe, not Chanel or Dior exclusive. That's why they're bagging H&M and Maybelline. But they could co-exist at the top very well. If JYP could just establish some consistency and quality in their songs.

    Chaeryeong outdances Lisa, and Yeji isn't far behind.

    Ryujin is a huge stan attractor, not far behind Jennie

    Vocally BP is better though, but both are pretty weak anyway. Only Twice is worse as a whole.

    Itzy had a lot of potential. Visually they are far more attractive and they also have much better stage presence. I think they were just lacking song choices though. Easily they could of surpassed BP interntionally if things were different

    Itzy's worst enemy has ALWAYS been JYP

    He failed to capitalise at the right time and strike when the iron was hot. He then completely folded at the first sign of big competition to Itzy and just let them ride roughshod over Itzy.


    (I also think covid REALLY hurt Itzy because it seems clear to me that Itzy was being built up as a live performance/touring group)
