I think the kpops appeal internationally may die down a bit before then

I said it for BTS, I'll say it for Blackpink. Of course. They're entertainers. People were saying Bigbang couldn't be surpassed when they were playing stadiums, but it happened. And we can't say they can't be surpassed when neither group is a household name yet. BTS has group name recognition, but how many people could name the members?

Let's talk about this once neither group has a fanbase that needs to zombie stream, donate and bulk buy to support and inflate comebacks. Because that's not something an organic phenomenon would need. BTS and Blackpink are steadily climbing a career ladder, but one day maybe a group will come along and just go massive and global right from debut.

Honestly no. Maybe and just maybe a 5th gen girl group might be able to. From the ones already debuted none are showing Bp's growth trajectory despite being in a 10 times more favorable market.

Yes. It's always the same with every fandom. They swear up and down that their faves are too big to surpass and with every new generation or so it always happens. I know because I was like that at one point too. If there is one thing we know about history is that it always repeats. After BTS and Blackpink there will probably be a bit of Kpop fatigue, but between 4th and 5th generation there will probably come a group that happens to have just the right combination of members, the right look, and new sound that will reinvigorate the Kpop wave.

I remember distinctly when BTS first started getting popular, at the time I was a fan of a much more popular boy group. I saw a girl I sort of knew at lunch during school come up to me, a girl who as far as I knew hadn't been into kpop, start raving to me about BTS. After that suddenly BTS was winning all these fan votes online when supposedly nobody knew who they were. Then next thing I know they are out there appearing at end of year award shows and winning everything left and right. It had been so surreal to me at the time. I always knew my faves wouldn't be at the top forever but I never imagined it would happen so quickly or abruptly.

I don't know what the next big boy group or girl group will look like or sound like, but I do know they are out there and will someday take the world by storm.
