Do people genuinely think IVE will flop?

  • Being realistic, let's just analyze Starship history with kpop groups.

First is Sistar that broke records and charted consistently with number 1 after number 1 for years until their disbandment by own choice. Nine consecutive #1s in total. Their songs are some of the most well known in kpop, they were massively popular, only lacked in sales.

Second is Boyfriend that had a decent popularity and even a small world tour but focused on Japan where they also found moderate success (anime OSTs, deal with Hello Kitty etc). The group also disbanded after years active, mostly due being neglected by Starship for korean songs and promotions.

Now the groups that still are active.

Before IVE Monsta X was their most popular group. They sell around 300k-400k per album, had 3 successful world tours and a postponed 4th, have deals with big american, british and japanese music labels, Urban Decay, were animated on Cartoon Network, collab with French Montana, Pitbull, Sebastian Yatra, etc. Their english album debuted #5 on Billboard 200 and their japanese singles tend to peak #1-#3 on Billboard Japan and Oricon. Their latest release Rush Hour charted better than all of their previous releases in South Korea and No Limit is their best selling album, so they are steady in terms of success.

Soloist Wonho, the only artist in Starship's sub label Highline sells around 100k per album and is very popular among i-fans and even non-fans, going viral on tiktok a couple of times.

WJSN sold 100k in 2020. Their subunits Chocome and Black both sold around 80k each with their latest albums. "As You Wish" peaked #4 on old Melon and always rise on charts again at the end of year. Recently their most popular song was "Hmph!" that became popular in South Korea despite not charting high.

Like Monsta X, WJSN still is very active and will join Queendom 2, with chances of skyrocketing even more their career.

It's also worth noting that member Bona have moderate success as an actress and is currently on a Netflix drama with actress Kim Taeri.

As for Cravity, that debuted in 2019, they also sell consistently around 100k since debut. Despite not being very well known, they are stable in the kpop market and have time and money to keep growing steadily like Monsta X did.

With that is clear that Starship have a good history with charts, sales, and connections.

    Now I ask everyone...

If all these groups are doing well and thriving despite not being exactly very popular, do you GENUINELY think Starship will drop the ball now with IVE that with just a debut single already outshadowed all of their previous groups both nationally and internationally?

...I really doubt. Starship will go wild now that they finally have a top gg in hands again. Mark my words.

  • eleven doing better than savage

  • No, but 3 groups stans wish they would.

Eleven took Wannabe's place as the overall biggest song of 4th gen and it's charted better than every song but Next Level in Korea probably so far.

Basically they are a threat so those 4th gen stans are hoping it's a flash in the pan.

  • no, not really. starship groups have always been popular and they always release good music. moreover the fandom is growing rather quickly i'd say. even if a big 4 gg takes their place in the top 3, i'm sure they won't be very far behind
