Why did korean general public lose interest in boygroups of yg?

    At least yg boygroups used to do well on charts so there was some kind of balance with girl groups performance melon chart wise but now there is only bts

    The only interesting bg yg had was winner but they too, started releasing boring yg sound.

    ain't nobody listening to yg boygroups in korea when they are the reason yg is called a drug store.

    Blame Seungri for it i guess. Music wise, YG's bg music seem to go downhill recently without Teddy's involvement.

    no exposure no fame


    BB was exposed a lot in their beginning years, its only until they build a big rep that they stopped promo, they were in known shows a lot, GD managed to build a reputation for himself too that helped BB as a whole


    WINNER had some exposure in the beginning due to being BB successors, Empty gave them a big hit. They managed to do well the following comebacks, and they did mange to grab other hits too, but they always were in a down curve due to no exposure.


    Ikon had the same road as winner but with bigger extremes, they had a really big hit but also a lot of their comebacks flopped.


    These two groups did not manage to build a hype for their successor Treasure, and so so they have an even lower fame.


    3rd and 4th gen need exposure because unlike 2nd and 1st gen, there are too many groups, too many competitors, the only way to stay a digital mon is to keep the public interested in you, a hit song no longer guarantees a continued good career like 2nd gen times.

    we are yet to see if it's the curse following all yg groups. If big bang slays the charts then treasure are just flops and don't have excuses for their charting

    +1 to seungri, they were doing alright before that, we will see how bigbang does, probably very good still

    Lost in trust especially of character. Character in pop stars may not matter in the west but it matters in the east.

    i think BB made people overestimate yg's bgs

    sure winner & ikon were big with gp, but it was only with certain songs.

    so, those were probably just good songs that koreans really liked.


    only real yg bg koreans supported each release was bb.

    it's gonna depend on their song if they'll continu to do well

    if the gp vibes with it, the whole drug store reputation will be put aside

    Bigbang have never stopped doing numbers in Korea. And they haven't stopped trending since the comeback was announced.


    Korea is not as basic as you seem to think. It's really only the older generation who still clutch their pearls about weed.

    Long dungeon stays with little activities inbetween comebacks, till the remaining hype and interest in the groups faded away.


    To be honest, the exact same thing was done with the girl groups and boy groups, but BP has the advantage that they're far more in the spotlight, which helps keep the public's interest alive inbetween the long hiatus periods inbetween comebacks.
