which kpop company is the fifth biggest after the main 4 ?

  • They get forgotten, because Idol production is not their primary business. And most of these acts, they did not groom inhouse, but rather bought in, by buying the originating companies.

If counting Kakao M, then CJ E&M should also be counted. They too are massive.

I've predicted this before, i think Kpop will eventually end up like consolidating like the American music industry, which is basically now composed of ginormous multinational conglomerates Sony, Warner, and UMG, who each control the various labels we all recognize like Columbia, Interscope, etc.

We could see Kpop ending up the same way, we've already seen the first step with CJ acquiring SM's music business and Kakao acquiring Higher Up. We could see smaller companies acquiring each other like RBW and WM, only to end up being acquired later on by the biggest fish. I wouldnt be surprised to see JYPE itself and YG's music business being acquired by Kakao, CJ, or some other huge company like Naver.

As industries mature - consolidation invariably happens and 90% of the market is covered by 3-4 behemoths.

But that does not last long, before disruption comes along and upends the whole industry.

K-pop is just 30 years old, so consolidation is the phase now.
