The reason why COVID-19 is a big deal is because although the death rates are low, it can spread easily. This means that people have time to spread the disease before they’re treated.
With diseases like Ebola which can spread less easily and have a higher rate of death means that infected individuals die before they have the time to spread the disease, consequently decreasing how many indivuals are impacted by the disease.
For example, let’s say COVID has a death rate of 5%, then EBOLA has a death rate of 40%. However, in this case, EBOLA has a spread rate of 20-40% then COVID has a spread rate of 70%. (These percentages aren’t accurate but are used to give a general idea)

Well said. This is something a lot of people don't seem to understand. They just look at the low death rate and think they have nothing to worry about, but they actually do more damage spreading it around and downplaying it. It's a huge deal.
There isn't anything more important or valuable than health. I wish American society would understand this. We need a huge shift in terms of mindset.
