Picture this. In hindsight, a smaller act only needs 27 more points to achieve #1 on major music show broadcast, beating an industry titan. Here's where it gets tricky.

  • I don't really get it, but is it about points in music show?

Since I used to watch Mubank regularly (only to watch the MCs :shyy: ) , I noticed how some small acts can get bigger points and winning over big acts. Mostly because these bigger acts released the album weeks or even months ago, so the points are getting smaller despite being nominated. While small acts just had a recent comeback so they have more points for broadcast, physical sales, digital sales.

I remember how Dynamite getting nom for 3 months, and keep winning, but sometimes also didn't. Depend on which artists get nominated atm.

Basically what happened here. The previous week, BWL placed 2nd. Also, Music Bank was not airing, hence 0 points in wjsn' brodcast score. My concern was more on how the company was willing to cheat for their trainees, but not for their artist that is actively promoting.

  • And that, plus the Yulhee fiasco, were the end of Laboum. A show bought them a lease on their lives but they remain bottom feeders to this day

Yes, but I bet my soul IU cried a river that night lmao. she never step foot into music show ever since. Coincidence? I think not.

  • That someone should've been starship ent. They cheat for their trainees, but not for their girlgroup?

    are you talking about produce??

I think the reason is simple. Being in a produce group has a higher rate of success, hence them cheating for it was worth it. From what I see, no one suspected rigging during the produce series time.

Meanwhile, WJSN is considered nugu, winning that music show could have helped them a little but still it wouldn't have done much.

Especially considering that they were up against BTS. Armys are good investigators, they are going to figure out there is something fishy when a nugu gg won over a BTS song.

Especially considering the song was BWL, one of their biggest hits in Korea. Sooner or later some Army is going to figure it out, post it, then the news will spread like wildfire and WJSN's carreer would be ruined.

Also, I don't think you can sajaegi your way to winning a music show, you don't know how many points the other contestants have ahead of you/you don't know how much sajaegi you need to do.

  • I just want to say that by that point, many months had passed since BWL was released. In previous week, BWL also placed 2nd, so a newer release winning over them was not something the fans are going to question. If they had been cheating, wjsn would have gotten away with it. As to produce, suspicion of rigging was already there since the end of season 1. Mnet PD did a terrible job in making those results less obvious.

Actually, came to think of it, better losing in dignity rather than winning by playing dirty. We are led to believe that they had what it takes to win that week, but in the end they were still lacking. It would be bad for their conscience if they later found out their win was a result of bribery.
