Weeekly’s After School - a getaway national hit?

  • Are you surprised that this song wasn’t bigger in Korea while viral on Spotify? People think the GP was getting bored of girl crush and Weeekly is bringing back the fresh sound, and some expected Weeekly to follow Twice and SNSD footstep, with this song as their “Gee” or “Cheer Up”.

  • I'm a WEEEKLY Stan.

But I don't think After School was ever that level of hit.

It got a decent reception I think and did well on Spotify.

But was not anywhere near National Hit level.

Cheer Up and Gee are once a generation type songs.

Edit:. Oh I think I misunderstood your post.

You mean that it should have been or seems like the type of song that could have been that type of song but wasn't?

  • all I know is that it is one of my Favorite Songs and Favorite Groups of the last few Years

I feel far too many people get hung up on needing other people especially strangers to Validate their Musical Preferences (probably why those "reaction" video's get so many views on YouTube)

I am long past needing that, if you also like them - that's Great, and if you don't, well I guess that is fine too

  • After School and Love so sweet (Cherry Bullet) should have been hits.

In this case the validation is important, the group need some level of popularity to keep going. Isn't the same case as groups with big fandoms that can afford to don't hit big digitally. Asap is an example of how a hit song can do wonders for a gg career, even more one outside big4.
