8 Months Prison Sentence for a Special Assault Teacher (Law) Complaint = Court Proceeding for YOO IN SUK (YURI HOLDINGS firm) ; 2021.12.04 ; Reporter Yoon Sang-keun
--- Begin ---
The prosecution sought a prison sentence ahead of the first trial of Yoo In Suk, former head of Yuri Holdings Co., who is considered a key figure in the Burning Sun scandal with former Big Bang member Seungri (30, Lee Seung-hyun).
According to legal circles, the Suwon District Court's Criminal Chamber 14 alone will hold a first-trial sentencing hearing for a total of six people, including Yoo In Suk as a alleged special assault teacher, on the 22nd (2021.11.22). Earlier in the final trial held on November 16, the prosecution sentenced (requested punishment) Yoo In Suk to eight months in prison.
Yoo In Suk's special assault teacher charges are related to the fact that Seungri called in a gang member to a group chat room that includes Yoo In-seok and verbally abused the victims in the back alley of a bar while drinking with his acquaintances at a cart in Gangnam, Seoul late December 30, 2015, and considered it as a crime of special assault teacher and added the indictment to the existing eight charges.
At the time, the military prosecution charged Seungri and Yoo In Suk additionally with the charges before the witness examination for the suspicion of Seungri's prostitution mediation and embezzlement in January, and has investigated Seungri's original trial by adding the charges.
The trial on Burning Sun, in which Yoo In Suk gave up his appeal, was completed on February 26, and the trial on charges of special assault teachers was filed on December 24, 2020 and began its first trial on May 12. The trial has already ended its third hearing on Oct. 13, with the remaining five, except for Yoo In Suk. The other five, who were tried along with Yoo In Suk, were suspected of participating in special assaults or were tried on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (unlicensed driving), and they finished pleading for three on June 11 and two on June 13, and Yoo In Suk alone continued the trial.
Seungri, who was tried in a military court on charges of special assault teachers with Yoo In Suk, ended with the conclusion that he was sentenced to three years in prison. At the time, the military prosecution played and stopped the CCTV video, which had been about 40 minutes at the trial, and carefully examined the scene of Seungri contacting somewhere while he was in the middle, when the alleged gangster came in around the restaurant, and what happened when the party members such as Jung Joon-young and Choi Jong-hoon appeared together, and then questioned Jung Joon-young, who attended as a witness in the afternoon of the trial, about what Seungri was doing at that time. In response, Seungri hinted at his position that there was no connection at all.
However, the court said that the charges against Seungri as special assault teacher were admitted, and added, "In conclusion, it is recognized that Seungri contacted someone directly to ask for someone to threaten the victim (in a state of anger), and it seems that Yoo In Suk also knew that he had called in a gangster." The victim also said that when he saw the damage, he drove him to the corner and pushed his shoulder, and the statements about such methods and crimes were specific and inconsistent." The trial is set to go through its second round of legal disputes with the filing of an
appeal.
With Seungri sentenced to prison, attention is being paid
to what the court's conclusion on Yoo In Suk will be.
