Why fans like to assume that their favs are gay?

I don't understand why people are so interested in their fave's sexuality in the first place.

People are weirdly invested in idols' sexual life, mostly because we don't know shit about it, and people are bound to be curious over something that is so taboo.

That said, someone assuming that their fav is gay isn't worse than someone assuming that their fav is straight, which is a lot more common

I think for gays it’s somewhat important. Representation is important and it makes young gays feel better if they see famous people being out and proud.

As for why so many hetero straight girls are concerned with idols sexuality???? I have no idea. I guess they think it’s cute?

It is weird because a lot of these shippers are not really supportive of LGB in real life. It is a fantasy/fetish for them. Disturbing. but idols also contribute to it partly because of all the fanservice/queerbaiting.

The thing though (at least for the Korean fans) if they found out that their bias is gay, it's as if they committed a mortal sin. It's just they don't want their favs to be shipped to another sex and they're delusional with their weird fetishes

Another question: why fans like to assume that their faves are straight? Nobody seems to have problems if reporters ask weird questions about the ideal height and/or type of the idols assuming they are straight, but when some people assume they could be gay, than suddenly it’s a huge problem for some people.

How about: why are some fans so interested in what their faves prefer and their private love and sex life?
