Display MoreIt's indicative of a philosophical shift.
That goes hand in hand with their Western embrace.
I know most everyone doesn't care. Or thinks it's ridiculous to care about such things.
I just wish they wouldn't embrace it all. They used to not.
But I'm fighting a rising tide. Most of Oncedom likes this better than the old philosophy.
I don't think this means a change in Twice or the members themselves. They're all grown women, and like most women in their 20s they probably swear just as much as everyone else so them swearing in a song is still the same Twice. I think a bigger problem is fans not wanting Twice to grow up and have music that reflects their age. Damn is even a pretty light swear word, one of my female friends who hardly swears still uses damn
This music is more representative of their age rather than something like Cheer Up or Knock Knock. I don't know a single 20+ year old woman around me who would rather perform those than Alcohol-Free, ICSM, or from what we've seen, Icon. I think what's worse than swearing is forcing a group of full-grown women to put on a fake-innocent act and cater to an image that they don't want
Of course, if the members themselves express otherwise and for whatever reason are uncomfortable with light swears I'll change my mind. But as of now, we can only assume this is what they want and that the music they continue to put out is more representative of them as individuals and a group (especially considering the level of members involvement in this album)
