why are fans so hurt when newer gen groups are compared to past gen groups?

I’m also the eldest child. In my family it’s quite obvious I have a bit of preferential treatment over my brothers and sister and I know first hand how jealous or resentful they can get if I get something first or they don’t (I got dads car first, had some fun and when I bought my own I left it to my younger brother in a shitty state, he was piiiiiised for getting a beaten hand me down lmao)

It evened out in my family. Sometimes boys get preferential treatment.

Because fans are fucking stupid. That's why. They have an inflated ego. They want their group to be unique and be the best one. Majority of groups are built from the product of their predecessor, so it's normal to see similarity, it's a formula.

No individual self-identity may be a factor as well. No identity outside of a group affiliation whether it be fandom, family, school, etc.

I think you misunderstood my phrasing.

But since you're mentioning it: Why do newer gen group fans get upset when newer gen groups get compared to past gen groups? Newer gen group fans should be content that newer gen groups have much better metrics, but they're insecure and are still easily traumatized by comparisons. Success should bring confidence, not insecurity.

Ohhh I get it now

I feel like those comparisons are mostly in terms of success,charts, records and etc. I see 3-2nd gen stans always say "but did your group achieve that??" and then they start listing off achievements that their faves made in the span of a few years. That by itself is annoying because how can you compare a few years old groups to a few months/1-2 years old groups? It doesn't make sense.

I guess people also get annoyed because when a new gen group achieves something,there's always someone who will underestimate it and bring up another group's statistics to bring the new gen group down

Because some fans of past gens groups might be upset and eventually the younger groups will be dragged

some 3rd gen stans are butthurt that 4th gen is outstreaming their faves in spotify. lmao.

You should have clarified because comparisons happen always, whether it be for success, members who look alike, music or that what you meant. And in every case people get upset because those comparisons are stupid.

But in your case, fans of cravity get upset because they want their group to be unique, they want it to be one and only and nobody to ever be like them. On the other hand, boyfriend stans get annoyed because they don't want someone to ever replaces their faves and become the new version of them

But this happens all the time when new gen groups get compared to older gen groups.

The probability of older gen groups having mature fans who can handle comparisons is greater than the probability of new gen groups having fans with mature thought processes.
