honestly, a lot of fans do not like to be told the truth, they will hide behind achievements and awards and will not acknowledge that their faves release terrible music, most generic songs released by kpop groups are just straight garbage. A prime example is armys, armys will fight tooth and nail to try justify that PTD or Butter or even dynamite are good songs, because it charted number 1 and it sold who knows how much copies, it's really insane, and I do get why some people find armys/kpop fans to be quite annoying and delusion, because they are, a lot of kpop fans are just living in a reality that is not true. They don't like to hear the truth, PTD is a bad autotuned mess! and yet army's still think BTS don't cater to the west and don't release bad music. Army's have always come across to me as very strange people, but it's not just them, (their just a really good example of this delusion being taken to an extreme) its all kpop fans. You can't even tell these fans that their fave has declined musical wise, they will literally burst a vein trying to argue with you and blame other fandoms.

My faves are generic, but the music is too good

Because as with noise music fans do not like criticism in any form, doesn't help that in kpop music criticism is generally a way to peddle hate on fan forums.

wow talk about generalization.

Is generic not another word for boring?
-
it makes them seem less interesting and unique.
every group has their charm, so its hard to like something when its the same thing with no distinctions.
just my take on it, though..
Agree. But not in BTS's case though. They're now at 43.6million Spotify monthly listeners despite their "generic" songs.

I've viewed generic as an insult for the opposite type of songs insulted by noise music, compare say something like Apink's My My and Super Junior's Mr. Simple for an older example.

Both the words generic and noise have been overused by kpop fans to the ground.

Well, I mean, having a generic song that still enjoyable is a thing. So the count of listener doesn't mean anything to the term generic. Maybe it even add on to it "Being so generic that everyone listens to it"? Lol. I am not sure. But I loved their Korea albums/songs though, especially Life Goes On, BST, House of Cards and some others.
Fans are on a unhealthy amount of morphine when they say BTS created their own genre or the genre is BTS, and then BTS went to US to make the most generic boy band songs ever lmao. Songs that you can imagine any boy band in the US make. Only difference is that BTS's huge and no matter what they put out, it will become successful. So it's hard to argue that anything is a flop from them. But the song is generic, and that's not a bad thing, people do enjoy it. I personally just love their Korean discography more and hopeful that they continue to do so.

BTS has become even bigger despite their'generic' English releases. In fact, they grew more because of generic!

bla bla bla if you think ptd is a mess, that's nothing but an opinion. However if it reaches 1st, that's objective, and the actual truth
