I was wrong about The Feels

  • After i heard the feels my first thought was they should have kept it for the Korean comeback. Icsm and cry for me r way more suited for the western audience. They kinda wasted cry for me's potential.

Cry For Me is my fave Twice song. I'm still confused that it didn't get a MV and everything else. Did JYP just not know how good it was ?(

  • Twice has always had that duality, their Japanese releases were either much more mature or bright or sometimes both at the same time (Happy Happy/Breakthrough).

  • Twice has always had that duality, their Japanese releases were either much more mature or bright or sometimes both at the same time (Happy Happy/Breakthrough).

Only if you think about their title track 2019 onwards which is also when they started losing momentum and a clear identity, further proven by the fact that JYPE don't know how to promote them anymore with different concepts.

One of the most advantageous things about their duality is how you can impress it upon different markets based on the preferences they have.

Perfect World, a song tailor-made for western fans goes to Japan, a country that does not like this sound. Inevitably its impact was near zero there and with it being in Japanese it was an incredibly insular release, so never had much chance to make an impact outside of Japan either.

Did more promo in the west for Alcohol Free, a bright summer track during the Korean summer time which isn't in line with western tastes (hence the difference in its metrics against the likes of ICSM), than in Korea itself, limiting the chances of it doing well in SK.

Now putting out a bright kpop song for their English debut release with a sound more tailor-made for SK, when it has been proven that western kpop/twice fans prefer the mature side more. Would love to be proven wrong as it's early days but don't see it doing much of anything there either unless it goes viral somewhere or Republic push it on radio/big playlists. Maybe one week on Billboard at a push as fans mass buy digital copies. Has minimal chance of doing well in the market that would like it (SK) as no promo there and it's in English.

I'd love to understand the direction behind these.
