Why is my pasta soggy?

I think several things went wrong:
Okay I think I overcooked the pasta at first, I should have left it more al dente, I did like 8 minutes because my sibling kept bothering me. I did like a stuffed shells recipe but instead of ricotta I had to use cottage cheese, and spinach + minced mushrooms.
The pasta started steaming as I cooked it and when I looked at the bottom, there was more sauce pooling but the cheese hadn't browned yet
I also didn't let it sit lol

Makes sense then. Al dente means it's hard but chewy.
Both spinach and mushrooms are water. Pure are simple water.
That's why, it was boiling and dropping water.
You should have broiled both spinach and mushrooms before, to drain the water.
