I believe that BP played a huge part of reviving the girl crush trend for debuting girl groups, especially for 4th gen. What are y'all's opinions on this? Obviously girl crush existed before BP but I think their success influenced a lot of other groups’ debut concepts.

Boombayah is literally the defining example and pinnacle of Girl Crush, everything that is Girl Crush is encapsulated in the song and the video. It is also the greatest Kpop song ever made but that's another discussion lol.

I must say, I agree, Blackpink was born during an era where cute concept was dominating. Then they did girl crush and more girl crush groups were created. I think a lot of people got inspired by Blackpink.

people are gonna pull out the 2nd gen ggs card, but if anything, none of the earlier 3rd gen ggs were clearly inspired by the 2nd gen girlcrush. Once BP became the one of the tops ggs, many companies started to drop Girl Crush ggs, specially in 2019
