It’s 2021, at some point some of y’all are gonna have to accept….

  • I thought it was pretty obvious to anyone who's been a K-pop fan for more than a few months, that there's all kinda aspects and traits of the groups and idols that are appreciated by fans, that includes talent but is not limited to talent.

We're talking about K-pop idols after all, and it's K-pop entertainment companies: not just music, and not just music artists.

But the songs, MV's, vocals, dance talents, visuals, performances, rap talents, song writing & composing, variety talents, charms, aura/stage presence, all those and more are things that fans pay attention to and like about their biases and other idols, and this mix is different from one K-pop fan to another.

One K-pop fan will focus more on rap talent or performances, another on songs and songwriting power, yet another on vocals and variety talent, yet another on visuals and dance, and on and on.

Also, if fans praise one thing and loving it to bits, whether that's the songs, or stage presence, or vocals, or dance talents etc, that doesn't mean they're dissing or shading other groups - even if some might feel it like that.

  • Imagine going like I stan my faves(who are artistes) because they look good. Like idk who your faves are but that’s a drag. Music comes first for me though. If I wanted to Stan visuals I’ll be stanning fulltime models then

If I wanted to stan someone solely for singing skills, I wouldn’t turn to idols :clown: Like yeah it’s music and you should like the music from those you stan, but people being beautiful in a genre like this is one of the biggest stan attracting points

I mean… let’s not pretend we’d follow Kpop groups if the members looked they’re part of a Christian rock band from Tennessee

Not to say everyone stans for visuals, but it is very much a valid reason when it’s idols who do more than just sing, especially when it comes to selling an image

I mean you should know since you stan IU, sis talented af, but she is a whole it girl for reasons beyond that

  • an interesting question is can someone actually stan a group solely because of the talent and nothing else?

ie. that you like a group's music but don't like or don't care enough for the members themselves... could you still call yourself a stan to begin with?

Good point. That’s why I consider myself as a stan of only one group.

I can count on one hand of groups I know each idol by face and that’s because those group has only 4/5 members lol.

Anyway, Lubby’s thread made me realise that I enjoy kpop music and don’t really care about personalities, visuals etc. And that’s why I prefer Spotify over YouTube. I rather watch buzzfeed unsolved if I’m on YouTube

but for that group (which I assume is BTS) you stan them for both the music and visuals/personalities/whatever else right?

and that's perfectly fine my friend to stan one and be casual listen to others if you care not for others personalities/visuals...
