BTS Grammy, what about a Bonsang for Beiber?

  • Says the one who turned blind eye to the actual systematic discrimination and had no answers, justifying that, when facts were posted. Pls have a mirror and see ur trump level ilk u belong to. Have shame discrediting the struggles of people of color

I like my artists to win on their merit and not pity tokenism.

Here the point was asking if Grammy is at least open to considering foreign acts, then shouldn't korean awards also be thus open?

And it does seem MMA is.

    I am good with that.

You can keep crying systemic discrimination for all your failures in life, I am least interested. And for all his personal crassness, Trump was not as ideologically malign as the SJ-Wokes.

And this is not a forum to discuss political ideologies, but kpop.

Another thing Wokes are incapable of, ability to see nuance, multiple views etc.

    What next, Hitler?

    Keep whining.

  • Those international artists won't care about Korean awards. I think Taylor Swift won a few Korean awards before, but she was nowhere to be found. She probably didn't even know she won.

The Grammys are the "biggest stage" for western music and western music happens to have influence all over the world. It's a huge deal for acts all over the world to win a Grammy as a result of that.

    Everything comes with time.

They caring or not caring, is not relevant to being open, being reciprocal.

Sure West has the most influence today, buy like how a korean act- BTS, became the most famous, a Korean award could become the most prestigious too, that should be the aspiration.

    Dont you think?

  • I think the Grammys are more international. Or at least it appears so. So people expect them to be more inclusive.

But they do prioritize their own people.

This is low key not true. They prioritize what is most popular in the world, and most of the time it is overwhelmingly American artists, but nobody could ever deny that American artists have had the most prolific releases most years since the Grammy’s inception. The majority of of time Kpop will not even be in the top 100 in BB, but if you look at historic charts around the world, western music is much more saturated internationally. BTS now is undeniably releasing music that does chart internationally, but it’s still a niche pick tbh.

No, the voting committee prioritizes their own, or let’s say western acts (english singing acts). If they would really go with what is more popular, we would had more Latin Singers as nominees and certain other acts wouldn’t have got any nomination!
