Glass-Closeted Idols

  • Can you name glass-closeted idols who are all but out as gay or bi?

That is, most everyone with a reasonable level of literacy with gay culture can tell.

Presently, I can only think of one:

    Kevin, from The Boyz

    • Intense, nonstop diva-worship (Beyonce, Lady Gaga)
    • Flamboyant dresser (when on his own time)
      • Also makes his own jewelry with beads (a personal hobby done on his own time) - necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets
    • Campy, nelly humor and demeanor, e.g.:
      • Appropriation of manners of speech, phrasing, and gesturing most commonly and originally exhibited by some popular Black American female entertainers
      • Enthusiastic appropriation of twerking, which he uses as a form of humor to amuse and sometimes shock (thus garnering attention)
    • Musical theater since childhood
    • And, possibly counterintuitively:
      • Strict avoidance of/aversion to skinship and showers with other members, who themselves commonly shower together at the dorm (to save time)
        • This may be because he's from English-speaking Canada (English-speaking North American mainstream aversion to same-sex nonsexual physical affection, etc.), but fellow Canadian member Jacob is very comfortable with skinship (e.g., commonly with Hyunjae)
          • But, to be fair, cf. Felix from Stray Kids, Australian (arguably comparable Western/English-speaking "New World" settler-colony nation with arguably closely similar contours re masculinity), who enjoys it very much

Who else is in the glass closet?

(I am a differenly abled gay man of color. Nothing above should be "offensive" to non-homophobes.)

  • Some guys can fit the 'gay' stereotype without being gay you know...

And if he is part of the lgbt community, we should just accept and support him, not assume offensive things like this.

"Some guys" can indeed signal without themselves being gay. That said, more often than not, such signaling does commonly indicate "gay".

What's "offensive" about observing that he exhibits traits commonly understood as gay-signaling by those reasonably literate in gay culture?

    Are you a gay man?

Because I am, proudly so—a differently abled gay man of color—and I find it deeply offensive that you labeled anything I said as "offensive."

You're not as woke as you think. You might want to do some self-examination re your own inclinations towards homophobia.
