Was SM producers inspired by the 90's music for the R&B portion when Navis appears in "Next Level"?

What is navis? Like sm version of Jarvis?

I love 90's R&B music

Yoo Young Jin is involved in Next Level and he's strong with R&B.

I thought hey were inspired by a movie soundtrack.

I know they do things like that to "switch it up" and to keep a monotonous song interesting, but it wasn't impressive or "wowing" in my opinion. The song itself just has a weak musical foundation. The rearranged version is a little more interesting, but nobody in my area would honestly play either version of the song outside of watching the MV. It just wouldn't get any respect.

SM has to work on making the music for the newer generation of groups more memorable. Who's going to play the songs outside of the MV if they sound weak or wack? The music has to just as strong as the MV. The audio should sale the video. The video should sale the audio too and both together should create a greater synergy to sale the SMC Universe.

Now answering OP. I'm not good with RnB eras, but SM has been inspired by old R&B for a long time.
