Not sure why this thread got resurrected by the person who did it, but I wanted to add to this one: of the 4 big companies, SM was the one who joined the ad race last with using ads for their groups, and even now, the past year, they've been doing it selectively (I can't recall RV having much if any ads). Ads is mostly focused on Sm's newest groups, like NCT and Aespa.
So it's kinda odd to say that SM as a late-joiner and selective ad user is prime example.
Other companies have been using ads longer, less selectively and for more of their groups. For example JYP has been using ads for ITZY for over 50% of the first week views for MITM, and for TWICE for around 40%.
In contrast with most K-pop fans, personally I see no problem if a company decides to use ads, it's 1 of the promotion and marketing tools that a company can use, so why wouldn't they?
