Because of covid, people with immunocompromised family members and those who are themselves immunocompromised have to be very careful. My friend has a sibling with a bad history of illness. She has to stay home, but her relationship with her family and her mental health isn't the best. She recently confided in me that she had a panic attack and that is why she missed a class we shared together. I met her last year and I was one of her only friends because she was new to our district. How can I support her best? Should I check up on her every few days or so?
How do I support a friend? (Tw: Mental health)

I already told her I would help her with schoolwork if she had any questions and that I'd support her

You definitely should check up on her every so often
I keep in almost constant touch with a friend who is struggling a lot mentally
I would also ask her exactly what is wrong and what is hurting her mentally
If it's being so close all the time with her family, get her outside to the park or somewhere she isn't around people so she isn't with them 24/7
I'd also send her some articles on anxiety and panic attacks, ways to prevent them and how to get through them when they are happening
These are what I've sent to my friend
Ask your friend to call you during the panic attack if you are ok with that and follow the steps in the third link
If you need more, please DM me because I would love to help because I struggle with the same position
