songs don't need rap verses :farmer-bee::farmer-bee::farmer-bee::farmer-bee:

  • I would say sometimes because there were songs where I, at least, did not think raps were needed.

    Examples ~

    1. Taeyeon's I -- Why in the hell was Verbal Jint in there???

[ Yes, I'm still pissed off about his inclusion. It was HER solo debut title song and he had to contaminate it a bit. ]

    2. Babymonster's Sua Dupa Luv -- The rapping felt so out of place. It should have been kept strictly as a ballad.

  • I think you’re talking more about rap features right? When a non-rap focused song, suddenly has a rapper come in, drop a few bars and then ducks out.

I definitely agree Boys A Liar and Spaghetti are much better without the rap features, and I can think of countless songs that would be better without the rap feature (to this day the rap feature I loathe the most is Tinashe - 2 On, what a god awful rap in an otherwise legendary song).

I like lots of rap features in otherwise already rap-focused songs (like playboi carti dropping a verse on a trippie red song or something), but I am struggling to think of non-rap focused songs I like where a rapper comes in for a feature… there are a few tho:

These songs have good features imo

  • Megan's verse in strategy is good. I didn't like the j hope verse that much in spaghetti. Rap features in songs are fine, and it all depends on how good the rap performance is. However, you can say that with any feature but there's plenty of good rap features in pop music

  • I know it's part of the YGE way but I do not like the raps in both of these and think they would be better without, though they are not features. I do enjoy rap in k-pop and it gets me so hype when done well but YGE has a tendency to shoehorn it into places it does not belong.

  • I guess my views are extreme in the sense I really would rather not listen to any rap ever. Perhaps since these are songs that are bubbly and pop and my taste it's just particularly annoying to me to have rap butt in where it doesn't belong and isn't welcome !!!

Oh you straight up dislike all rap in music? Yeah that's definitely not something I agree with as I love hip-hop and rap, but I do agree there are many songs ruined or worsened by a misplaced rap segment from a featured artist.
