One of the reasons kpop fans love to blame the company more than the artists is it allows them to be misogynistic or bigoted without direct consequence

  • And for me it’s most obvious with the fake concern over katseye.

Now I don’t really care what you think about katseye’s music or anything else. They’ve been up and down for me as well but the comments they’re facing is kind of disgusting.

The truth is many of the members have been dressing the way they want even before joining katseye. For me I don’t believe they’re “forcing” themselves to dress “provocatively”

It helps kpop fans feel better if they slut shame women by hating on the company that’s what I have observed.

The truth is young women can dress sexy and express themselves for a variety of reasons but that does not give any one the right to slut shame them IF THEY ARE COMFORTABLE that way.

Often times in many kpop groups or even western groups many women who are forced to dress provocatively show shyness or are distraught I’m not saying those type of things don’t occur.

But if the women you’re trying to “protect” and “save” are not showing distress and dress and behave a certain way even outside the camera lives : you don’t get to slut shame them for it.

That’s just YOUR prudish nature exhibiting misogyny over others’ choices.

I don’t know man this discourse over how katseye dress is just disgusting to witness and I feel is putting us back many years.

Now I’m NOT discrediting your own lived experiences. I know many regret acting a certain way in their younger years and feel Katseye are going in that direction and may regret it later BUT that’s still THEIR choice to make. The constant commentary on how they dress is really not necessary. If you want to hate hate on the things that really matter like HYBE’s sub par music choices 😭

Anyway I have been seeing this not just for katseye but for many GGs as well but Katseye most obviously recently. I can also write an essay on how this ties into the way people expect Asian women to be portrayed in the media but I’m tired and don’t want to type further so I’ll stop here.

It’s disheartening to see people go so far left that they reach the right.

Anyway I’m not really trying to encourage discourse on this matter but more like sharing my opinion. Feel free to comment your thoughts but I’m not expecting to debate on this.

  • I think with Katseye a lot of the discourse is to bring them down. I noticed the way they’re talked about has changed once they became popular outside of the kpop market . It’s why I feel a major talking point about the group these days revolves around how they dress and act. It’s easy to create noise by calling out hybe or making protect katseye trend to bring group down

I’m just unsure how effective this tactic to bring them down is . I don’t think western market cares and the kpop fans that might see it are most likely not checking them out. I guess it hurts gaining potential kpop fans

Reminds me of how much Miley used to be slut shamed. People think they’re being “progressive” and “helping” but commenting so strongly on women’s dressing choices always ends up being regressive and disheartening.

  • i personally have no problem with provocative clothing. but that one move during gnarly when they bend over had me uncomfortable and that was the only time ill be like "girl..."

that being said, people should get to dress how they want. katseye body tea so let them show that if as far as they feel comfy with it

but can i just say that the same ones complaining about katseye's outfits are the ones who will be seated for invasive up the skirt shots of female idols. its disgusting.

It’s apprently only attractive if women are revealing against their wishes 💀

  • And katseye has a lot of kpop/kpop adjacent fans too, kpop fans are much more conservative than average pop fans… they like sexy concepts only when its done in certain ways and when its obvious the idols don't have a say in it💀

  • I'll be honest, sure people can be "uncomfortable" with their outfits, but I'm from Brazil... They look extremely beautiful, they are beautiful and as long as they are comfortable with their clothes I don't see how my or any other opinion should interfere with their decisions.

And yes, kpop fans will always shift the blame between company and idols to hate on them in any possible way.

  • I'm not on social media and therefore I do no know the ins and outs of this particular issue but if I hazard a guess those taking issue with katseye might be fans of other groups???
