What would the world receive the fact that Woodz' 2023 song Drowning will win the Yearly #1 in Melon?

  • Will internaitonal fans be upset if they learn Woodz' Drowning will claim the Yearly #1? 1

    1. They will be surprised (0) 0%
    2. They will be upset (0) 0%
    3. They will be angry (0) 0%
    4. Only the former owner of Edam Entertainment will get upset about it (1) 100%

For whatever reason, the former owner of Edam Entertainment has avoided Woodz like plague.

She has invited even Jo Jungsuk, who is not a singer (although married to one), to her Palette but has never invited Woodz there, and it seems Woodz has not even met the former owner of his company, although there might be a chance to do so in the Asia Artist Awards, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in December which both are confirmed to attend.

A lot of things , like Huntr/x, occurred in Kpop, but it has become clear that while Woodz's 2023 song Drowning had never taken a daily #1 in Melon, it stayed in the top 5 for quite a long time (and even beat songs from the former owner of his company), so it is going to be the yearly #1 song in Melon this year.

Which means, since it is impossible to give awards to Huntr/x because it did not debut in Korea, Woodz has a good shot. Normally the prediction would be that GDragon will win all of these awards, but Melon is strange and it is unlikely to ignore someone from Edam Entertainment, even though it is not the former owner. Woodz' song came out in 2023 but KPop awards are notorious for bending their rules according to their whim (example - IU's Blueming was NOT eligible for Golden Disk in 2020 since it came out in Nov 2019, when it is usually Dec to Nov, but to prevent BTS winning every single grand prize from all sponsors, Golden Disk bent its rules to award IU a Grand Prize, a reversal of 2011 when it bent its rules to DENY IU a Grand Prize back then - it pays to be an owner of a company since IU was the owner of Edam Entertainment at that point of time).

It will really mess things up in Edam Entertainment , which will have 2, two, Yearly #1 winners despite of contributing so little to the advancement of Kpop.

That aside, I wonder how foreign fans will accept this. After all these brouhaha around Huntr/x and Golden, Woodz , who spent all of 2024 and half of 2025 in the military and his recent releases did not really do too well because of the Huntr/x craze, gets to claim the Melon yearly #1.

Will they be surprised? Will they be angry? I do not know.

  • They won't be surprised because he boosted himself with a feat with a Day6 member icyruios
