First of all, if you look at the current Rookie Award voting for MAMA, Hearts2Hearts would be first so why are the rumors circulating?

Because the judge's votes count for 40%...

In other words, the rookie award is decided based on judging scores.

This year, with the All Day Project, the rookie award criteria have changed, it used to be one male team and one female team, but now it's been merged into a single, gender-integrated category

So, the two awards that were given each year have now been reduced to one. However, since it would be too abrupt to suddenly cut it down from two to one, it's expected that they'll still give out more than one award.

The reason people are predicting that they might not win, though, is because the participant schedule has already been released

Hearts2Hearts will be performing in the first day

The leading award contenders,All Day Project, CORTIZ, Izna, and Kickflip are all on day two

If it turns out like that, they won't be giving out a separate Rookie Award,

So they effectively won't receive one... It's said SM girl groups have already been snubbed by MAMA numerous times despite their strong performances

CORTIS, H2H, ADP and Kickflip excel in one of the categories

While CORTIS has low digital they have the second highest album sales after Kickflip and second highest global after H2H.

From the table above it looks like H2H have the most average across all categories I guess that’s why they’re leading ADP is first in digitalis but everything else is quite low! Similar with KF, where they excel in albums but everything else is low.

I think if CORITS has more time they would be second or first in predictions

I understand the merge and unlike majority think it’s fair otherwise ADP don’t fit into bg/gg.

Would have been weird if a bg won from their list then a gg and then all a sudden ADP by default because there’s no other coed 5th group (to my knowledge)

People would go on about how it’s unfair damned either way!

and MNet/MAMA made decisions to what fits

for example last year ILLIT won "Best New Female Artist", and MEOVV won "Favorite Rising Artist", and ME:I won "Favorite New Asian Artist".

so I guess this year things will go in similar way, someone will get this, other one will get that, maybe they will give two rookie awards to H2H, and ADP, then give something to Cortis and izna as well, etc.

I do believe if 2 were to win it would be CORTIS and probably ADP but as you said they’ll probably reward H2H, KF and maybe even IZNA with some other rookie award!

It all comes down to judges votes anyways!
