    Also, anime/otaku/weeb/J-pop nerds here, Japan is doing the same thing. EDIT: Japan is not YET doing this. But from what I'm seeing expect it soon.

    hmm i have no issues with japan right now, then again i use a proxy.


    I wonder if the u.s stores for kpop merch will have issues. like hello82, choicemusicla, etc.

    Most of these haven't kicked of yet and will this week. I haven't looked into how the more expensive services like DHL and FedEx will operate with this. I assume the purchaser will still need to pay a fee on collection of the parcel, or, once this is sorted out, pay a higher cost at Point of Sale.


    Tenso, one of the Japanese proxy/forwarding companies is adding a 6,250yen to all international shipping fees to the US.


    The US Stores for kpop merch will probably just get increased prices due to tariffs themselves

    I use Neokyo and JPN-Depot and they haven't added any extra fees yet. So we'll see. I don't buy k-pop anymore so i can't confirm if the u.s based stores who sell kpop have changed anything.

    TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if they do once the De Minimis exemptions end August 29. Currently, any imports from Overseas to the US under $800USD are exempt from sales duties/tariffs. After Aug 29 that wont be the case. Which means all items imported from overseas need to have the tariff paid. When means more processing time through customs and point of entry, higher fees etc.
    The companies shipping these items are not going to want to eat this cost themselves.

    I'd be keeping an eye out for updates over the next week from them.

    Only 2-3 groups (and their solo members) in the US can sale 100k - 200k / per albums, the record currently is still BTS with ~400k units. The rest are < 50k, it won't serve as excuses for low sale numbers.


    Meanwhile a China bar can bulk order 500k units.

    Many sites are just blanket stopping US shipping, even options that go around Korea Post, like the courier companies. If its to the US, its too hard

    Neokyo said dhl and fedex and ups are still in operation if u need a proxy use neokyo
