I wonder if Cortis can live up to the expectations of being BTS’s direct juniors

  • Personally, I don’t see them even reaching txt's level, let alone Bts. They’re not as visually interesting as debut txt (that veneer gosh), their songs honestly suck, and vocally, I’d dare say they’re the weakest in the whole company, like I'm not even sure if they have any vocalist in the group. Even autotune can’t save them.

I’m surprised this is the direction BH is taking with the group. Flat and boring. They went with another group pushing the same youthful, teenage vibe we see in debut Bnd, Tws, and almost every other 5th gen boy group. There’s really nothing that sets them apart. Their branding, songs, and concept all feel generic except for the fact that they’re Bts’s direct juniors. I'm disappointed tbh.

Ngl, 5th gen boy groups make me appreciate all the debut concepts and debut songs I witnessed from older gen and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but even from 4th gen bg too.

  • First and foremost, they need to be committed to the branding they are trying to sell. They want the public to believe this group is self-produced when their producing credits look like a TXT regular comeback — and this isn't even the image Bighit tried to give to TXT.

Second, the songs are not a stand-out in comparison to what the other active boygroups are releasing.

Third, CORTIS is a terrible name. I always think of something that could be in a Medicine book, like corticosteroid or cortisol.

  • Nope, and they shouldn't be expected to live up to the expectations to the biggest kpop group of all time. The better question is will they be a top group?

I think they're off to bit of a shaky start in regards to music. It's cool that they're self-produced but it doesn't mean a group can't be criticized when they don't deliver.

Also, I feel bad for them with all of the hate comments I'm seeing on social media. A lot of the hate has nothing to do with music and seems some of the discussion shouldn't be happening.

    this.

certain people need to cool off and let the group set their own standard

on almost every single cortis video, its just trashing the group for apparently being ugly (like OP) and there's no real criticism.

  • Gonna stream now after seeing that first post.

So negative I want to support.

The songs are good, idk what these people are on about but I guess they already hate them from being a bh group, as expected.

BH really needs to fix whatever is wrong on spotify because it's impossible to find their official page there, I had to go look for a link on twt to find it.

  • No one should be expected to live upto bts. It is wrong of the company to expect it out of the idols. And It is wrong of the kpop fans to expect it. But kpop stans will flock to anything negative just because the group belongs to "rival company".

The funny part is that I was paying no attention, as I'm hopelessly behind with gen 5 groups, but now I'm ready to stream.

  • Hmm... Tricky... Whilst I think.it is rather unhealthy to live ip to someone's shadow, instead of being themselves, I'm intrigued about the figures that'll come out for their debut. Their streaming numbers aren't that good for a debut, and their debut is seen as rather a damp squib compared to the hybe before it.

I, personally, wouldn't exactly call them self-produced, as the number of other contributing dilutes the image that they are self-produced. Sure, one or two other who work wirh you, like how BSH and... whatever that other guy who used to work with them is called. But to have around 13 produce a song... doesn't really come off as self-produced.

I think the OP has a point when it comes to visual. After all, this is K-pop and visual are equally important to breaking out, like concepts and music. You could have amazing music and wonderful concepts, but if the visuals don't match, then people will be turned off. Koreans, in general, are superficial and fickle, and people need to remember that when assessing a groups potential for success.

  • So far, they are just invisible to k-pop fans. There have been hit hate tweets, but it wasn’t as bad compared to other groups. I would say the Trainee A hate was bigger.
