A lot of groups got exposed for fraudulent Spotify streams this week

Are past songs from these groups getting deleted streams or just the recent ones that are charting?

I don’t get this whole Spotify stuff but I totally believe NJ’s success was “organic” as it gets. Hybe might have done the bare minimum but it’s clear they prioritized other groups over others and didn’t expect or want NJ to be their biggest act.

Payola have different meaning than fandom manipulated stream farms.

Katseye currently have over 20m monthly listeners, because all the autoplay and playlisting deals, just like what Newjeans got back in day.

For Jimin however, he never reach over 20m monthly listeners and currently have 7M listeners, but he have over 1,8B streams for "WHO". That is obviously fans looping the song over and over again.

Spotify deals are the ones where Spotify receive money. From fandom streaming they don't. Spotify naturally remove streams from activity that does not benefit them.

I feel like this says it all, spotify charts are legit dominated by BTS solos but nowhere to be found on other charts. Like at least be subtle y'all, dam

There are huge differences between fradulent streaming vs autoplay+playlisting. Spotify is removing streams from the former. On the latter, pretty surr Spotify already received the paycheck. One is driven by fans, one is driven by company

You can't lose stream if you don't even have enough to chart...

If you enjoy the song, the group, the music, the charting, stream #s, etc. shouldn't matter. This type of stuff only matters if you're using the groups you "like" to brag.

They remove what happen in the past month. Sure 2020 songs may get streams removed too, if fans suddenly start obsessing over them, but that is unlikely happen in 2025.
