They are the oldest of the Fearsome Five (LSRFM, Ive, NJ, Aespa and Idle). It makes sense that they become the first one to fade away into the twilight naturally (unlike NJ which ended for completely different reasons).

When Aespa ended 3rd gen with Next Level, i waxed poetic many times from 2021-2025 about the passing of the crown from the 3rd age of Kpop to the 4th.

Now, it looks like the second big domino could be falling for 4th gen after the first big domino aka NJ indefinite hiatus. Very interesting that this is happening at the same time as 5th gen is asserting itself at the top of the charts with Allday and Katseye.

With NJ, Idle, Itzy and Stayc falling to the wayside, this leaves Aespa, who is fighting for their live to keep their crown as Kpop's biggest group, Ive and Lesserafim as the 4th gen mainstays who can still consistently reach top 10 on Gaon.
