    Suga said, “Through the program preparation and volunteer work with Professor Cheon Geun-ah over the past seven months, I have deeply felt that music can be a valuable channel for expressing emotions and communicating with the world.” He added, “I am very grateful and happy that I was able to participate in the treatment process for children with autism spectrum disorder, and I will continue to work hard so that more children can become members of our society.”

    From March to June of this year, #SUGA spent weekends meeting with children with autism spectrum disorder and participated in the development of the program. He played instruments such as the guitar himself, guiding the children to match rhythm and harmony, interact with music, and expand their emotional expression. He even went so far as to teach the children to play instruments themselves”

    This speaks volumes of his character.

    Autism research is so woefully under funded and family support is practically nonexistent. It doesn’t get star studded fundraisers or high profile events. It is an incredible struggle to find a child the proper care/programs.

    Research consistently demonstrates that music and music therapy can be beneficial for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), particularly in areas like social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing. Music engagement can facilitate social interaction, improve emotional understanding, and even enhance motor skills.

    I'm happy for him and for all the kids and adults getting help or treatment.


    This year I had a colleague who is on the spektrum. He always worked following certain patterns and he was confused a lot but we tried work around and with his needs. Not long ago he lost his cool over a small misunderstanding (really small for us but confusing for him) and reacted with attacking all the female staff, me included. He was almost unstoppable for half an hour and my male colleagues had to restrain him at the end. We had to make an official complaint for he went on a rampage and tried to injure us and as much as we want to emphatise we can't give up our safety. We tried to get treatment for him (he had the chance to work with us if he went to consultation) but his parents said no and he resigned so there won't be paper trail. Because they were affraid of judgement. Reality is that we asked his previous worklplaces and this kind of outburst happend three times already but the parents do everything to avoid professional help and always go for the next job offer because it's hard to get it and they fear stigmatization. So I'm happy for anything making it possible for these people to get help and for society to make support available.

    When I read the news and saw the word "autism treatment center", I hoped that it wasn't some group trying to cure autism. (it can't be cured)

    But that doesn't seem to be the case for this one.
