    I wouldn’t say this is strictly my top 10, just 10 songs I love that came out in the last 12 months, not in a particular order. Each is by a different artist. It’s 50% Kpop but when it’s not, I put a little description next to it (actually I’ll put a little comment next to all of them.)

    If I didn’t have a 1-artist-1-spot rule and went solely by my 4 weeks stats on Stats for Spotify, this list would be 90% Jennie. Her solo album blew me away (it’s better than every Blackpink EP imo). I keep falling for different tracks, right now it’s this one.

    OMG I love Yves so much. I wasn’t particularly drawn to her during Loona, and tbh I only liked a couple of Loona songs (the original Odd Eye Circle release was my favourite) - but Yves solo work is on another level. Right now I am listening to this a lot from her upgraded edition of her second EP.


    Rosé - 3AM

    Rosé is my favourite member of Blackpink, and I am so happy she got such massive success with APT. It’s a song that’s really fun with great chemistry, but it’s not one I would vibe with sat by myself and I can only listen to it occasionally now. For me, 3AM is the big takeaway from the album, especially this live. Her vocals got hated on, but for me it just sounds so fucking raw and emotional - I can’t get enough of it.

    NewJeans - Supernatural

    NewJeans are just the GOATS - every release better than the one before - we should have gotten a whole album in the New Jack Swing style of Supernatural. Hopefully we will one day.


    Bibi - Derre

    A real ear-worm this one. Bibi has so many good songs, and this one is up there at the top. More international fans should listen to her imo.

    First non-Kpop (Swedish, but in English). I’ve been a fan of Yung Lean since he was still a meme, it’s been crazy following his journey over the years. This latest song is a banger, can’t wait for his next album and it will hopefully top 2020’s Starz.

    Bladee is also a Swedish cloud-rapper, part of the Sad Boys & Drain Gang posse. Tbh I didn’t fw Bladee for a long time, it wasn’t until Skrillex - Ceremony that he was part of a song I truly loved. Then last year he released Cold Vision which went super heavy on the trap beats and I fell in love. It was my favourite album of last year, and this is my favourite track from it.

    Probably the most underrated Singer I know. Yeule is from Singapore but sings in English. It’s dark, grungy Glitch-pop. If you love old-school Grimes you’ll love them. Their 2023 album, Softscars was my favourite of the year - now they are in their dark period and realising music with a much more macabre tone - I love it.

    Time to finish with 2 songs from Ano-chan, my favourite Japanese singer (and current display pic). She’s an idol with punk/rock leanings and if you’ve ever watch Chainsaw Man, you’ll know one of her songs because she sings the ending to the episode where Himeno accidentally pukes in Denji’s mouth

    Anyway, this was my favourite Ano song from last year, it’s a shame it didn’t get a music video! It reminds me of old-school Japanese post punk like the SPARTA LOCALS or someone.

    And a little cheat to end on, I said 1-artist-1-spot, but I’s are a Japanese punk band fronted by Ano. I think I might actually like I’s more than I like her solo stuff overall (although both are great). I recommend hunting down their live performances because they are packed full of energy.
