SM vs Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin and Lay.

  • In Kpop, for your favs to make it, they have to make huge sacrifices therefore many are ok with it. It's surprising but true.

Yeah but after literally 13 years, they deserve to live the lives they want rather than be criticized for not continually making these sacrifices. It's not like they've been in the industry for one year and let the fame get to their head. SM isn't owed loyalty, and CBX shouldn't stay in SM if they don't want to. They should prioritize themselves.

Very true for Byun Baekhyun, Kim Jongdae and Kim Minseok but not for CBX because SM made CBX. It's only possible if they disband and drop their SM given stage names. Even still, SM could pull a Jessica Jung style of blocking against them in the industry.

Once tangled with SM, idols can't easily untangle away from SM without serious losses.

  • Lay is EXO, no doubt about it but his absence rather than his presence has sadly become the standard in EXO activities. I just saw he said he had filming schedule so he couldn't be in today's live. I don't know how much SM has to do with his absence this time, but the SM against him narrative seems not to fit this case.

They have to come up with reasonable excuses where necessary to avoid drama. And, one cannot plan or prepare for an event they are not invited to if they are not invited to it.

  • I am too. They were doing so well before becoming a branch to other company, but who knows maybe it was their plan all along and they just worded it differently only to become true in the end. It seems they tried to outsmart the devil (SM) but it is too old and too petty to be outsmarted.

That was such a foolish move unless it was intentionally meant to mimic SM's behaviour to show them that they could pull cheap moves like SM does.

I was using CBX as a short way to write their names, not actually referring to the subunit.

I'm sure they're aware of these "serious losses". They know more than we all do, we can only speculate.

If it was what they were going for, then they are really stupid. Trying to enter a pissing contest with SM is like having and ant going against an elephant. They are no match, I just hope SM plays fair and gives CBX what they are due.

The reasonable excuse was given by Lay this time, SM has said nothing. And before you call me a SM stan, I am not. Of course, if you are not invited there is no way to prepare.

I just hope that SM isn't as powerful as they used to be and that CBX doesn't end up in JYJ's position.

  • I remember them saying they agreed on 5% but SM changed their stance. But, that's interesting!

No the 5% is about Kakao distribution fee. CBX's side claims that SM promised to help them get a 5.5% distributions fee with Kakao but it was a verbal promise (it was not included in the contract CBX signed when they settled with SM again). CBX's lawyer say they have text messages and audio recordings to prove it but like... I'm not sure recordings and texts message can be considered legally binding. The 10% IP fees' payments are not conditional on getting the 5.5% Kakao distribution fee though so idk what CBX is trying to do ;(
