I watched the gist of When Life gives Tangerines, and felt it was the story of KPop against its most annoying singer.
The female lead, who will feature a lot in this post, completely screws up the life of the Park Bogum character, who basically throws away his entire life plan to support the female lead who had no support and on the way out.
KPop chose to support the last relic of the old era, despite of the inconvenient fact that she had proved a huge burden against it, and she grew as big as a Strawberry Moon and consumed not one, not two but three generations of KPop,.
One of the most decisive battles of KPop history was the late October , 2021, battle between aespa's Savage and the Senior Singer's Strawberry Moon.
aespa's stars were rising very high with Next Level, which posed to be the Song of the Year, while BTS' Butter was winning in Billboard.
So the battle of the year would have been BTS vs aespa, with aespa seriously challenging BTS at least in Korea itself.
SM did not miss the opportunity and had plans to debut aespa in USA.
However, something unexpected occurred.
When aespa released Savage after Next Level, which would have been the TT to Cheer Up, the Owner of Edam Entertainment (she owned Edam Entertainment outright back then) decided to mount a fight against aespa!
She released a single, Strawberry Moon, to strike against aespa's Savage, and actually defeated the latter.
It was, I have to say, a decisive battle which probably decided the fate of the 4th Generation of KPop.
Let's say by some accident or whatever the Owner of Edam Entertainment did not release Strawberry Moon and aespa rose to receive the Grand Prizes of Artist of the year and Digital Song of the year. Celebrity came too early in the year and Next Level was more powerful during the middle of 2021, and since LSM still owned SM, he would have done his utmost to win aespa SM's first Grand Prize since Exo.
And, BTS, instead of having someone who had no reach outside of Korea as its chief threat, would suddenly have to face someone who could challenge its position outside of Korea just chasing it behind.
We would have had a great BTS-aespa fight in the middle of 2022, which would have probably dwarfed IVE and later New Jeans.
New Jeans did defeat JK in 2023, which led to the end of BTS's remaining influence in the world, and aespa defeating BTS in 2022 when it could claim to have ruled the world would have an impact which would have been bigger than what APT. did.
BTS really dodged a bullet at the end of 2021 when it was clearly in a danger to face a big rebellion led by aespa, and the 4th Gen would have taken over KPop in 2022 instead of not completely supplanting the 3rd Gen even now.
aespa would have been much bigger by now while IVE and NewJeans, which would never have grown that big to create all these drama to call itself NJZ now, would have been much smaller.
a lot of things changed when the Owner of Edam Entertainment decided to fight aespa. If then Owner of Edam Entertainment did not decide to screw up the 4th Gen in 2021, it would have been different and people like GDragon or Roseanne Park, MBE, would have been shipped to the yonders by now.
