As for my opinion about the song and the MV! The MV is obviously cool like any other DC movie, but that's all. The song is an absolute FLOP!

Now, here comes the long essay, you can read it if you want, but don't argue with me, if you didn't read the whole thing! :pepe-toast:

  • I agree. The production of the MV was good but the song itself is meh.

As for the album...it's polarizing. Some highlights but a lot of lowlights. If you're already a fan of Lisa and her previous songs, this is right up your alley. The highlights of the album were definitely the collabs...specifically Born Again and the Tyla collab. I don't really see how the Alter Ego (5 personas) theme fits into the album as you don't really see the 5 facets in her collection of songs...though I guess it does help with her comic book company.

Yes, the Tyla collab is probably my 2nd fave, but not because of Lisa, sadly. The same happened with Born Again, it was carried by the featured artists.

Also, yes, I wanted to talk about this Alterego thing. I can't understand it. Where's the theme? I don't feel the songs are that much different, I mean, the songs that were made for the 5 personas. Pretty much all of those lyrics are the same.

  • When two anti-fans are talking, lol.

As a debut album, it was much better than other Kpop soloists.

Lots of fun and memory sounds, she did great job

It's called opinion for a reason. Do you love every song? Unless you only listen to Lisa, and BP, I doubt it.

Also, LISA is NOT a Kpop soloist, she's a Western Thai Pop soloist!

I could name like 10 Kpop soloists who released much better, more versatile, and more meaningful albums with real lyrics. And I don't have to go back for years, 2024 is enough.

For the record, Lisa didn't do much. If you look at the credits, she doesn't have composing credits, and she only has like 2 main writing credits, if I'm correct. The rest of the songs were written by someone else, or she was the last in the line, ergo she only wrote a couple of lines, probably.

That's a good start for a BP member, but not impressive!

  • At first I was like wtf is that song but it grew fast on me. So now I think it's a bop

For the album. The 5 persona thing is a joke imo because most of the songs gave off the same vibe. I guess it's just a money thing but still a solid album.

  • This pains me to type as a Lisa fan but I think she dropped the ball with this solo. The Alter ego concept seems to be half baked because I can't really tell the difference between each of them and it seems like it was just marketing. We have seen artist used different alter egos and it was easy to tell because how distinguishable they were but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Lisa's team didn't do her any favors because she rapped too much about money and how rich she is. I just don't think people want that in an album in the 2020s and they want vulnerability. If you look at all of the top pop artist today they have shown vulnerability and Lisa has not done that here imo. She's an interesting woman but everything feels disjointed. It doesn't feel like a record about her as an artist/person and more about the fabricated character she's portraying. Even with today's rap artist they have created songs that their fans can relate to but it doesn't seem that present here.

I sound a bit negative and need more listens.I think she did enough to satisfy her fans but not enough to gain fans. I enjoyed some of the songs and they aren't awful but I think her team needs to work on lyrics. If you're going to present Lisa as a rapper then she will have to get compared to Meg, Doja,Doechii, Glorilla, Latto, XG's rap line, etc. Then I think she just needs to have more substance because I think when compared other rappers it's just not that good. It might be good for kpop rap but when compared to American rappers or XG it falls flat imo.

  • EDIT:

FUTW finally grew on me and I love it now.

    Which is funny.

    Most of all:

    Her rap was fun. ♡

The 2nd song i really really love in this album is the song: Rapunzel feat. Megan Thee Stallion.

Hope it gets a mv later.

Rest of the songs didn't suit my taste.

    Great observation!

I don't find you negative, btw.

You just laid down some important points.

I think this whole Alter ego concept was made for her ComicBook series. I mean, that would make sense.

  • i'm kinda dissapointed. lyrically it's quite undrwelming specially. most of the songs just feel like money. there is not depth or even some variation to the record.

    i expected better from her.

and musically, so far my favorite tracks are new woman, thunder and when i'm with you. lifestyle and dream also stood out but apart of that i barely remember the record.

maybe i was expecting too much :wellr: .

  • I think this whole Alter ego concept was made for her ComicBook series. I mean, that would make sense.

That's the issue with it because it was meant for marketing and not her music. She looks great of course because it's Lisa but there's not substance to it.

Hopefully, this was an experiment for her to see what works for her. I think her team needs to re-evaluate things if they're trying to breakthrough in the west. The music industry here is tougher to breakthrough and we want more vulnerability and relatable music. I think the production is there but the lyrics is the glaring issue here imo. I think if they fix that she can provide something to gain ground outside of kpop market

that...and an excuse to sell an additional 5 different versions of her album. We all know how kpop fans love to buy the whole set of albums...whether it's 2 versions, 5 versions, or 12 versions.

She obviously can't do this every time. If she's gonna write lyrics about money and fame like now, her career will end faster than she can blink. Even her fans won't eat this up every time.

I think, what they did with New Woman, Moonlit Floor or Born Again, is what actually suits her. She has to forget the rap, unless she starts writing good lyrics and also learn how to do it properly. The singing is not that important, not even in the West. Just look at Taylor Swift. She's not a good singer, but as a writer, she's 10 times better.

I worked with actual rappers, and they said this all the time: "If you want to be a rapper, it's not enough to act cool and stuff, if you don't put your heart and soul into your verses, no one will give a damn."

It's one thing to make diss tracks and bragging songs like Eminem, Drake, 50 Cent etc, but if that's all you can do, you're finished. Not to mention, Lisa is basically a rookie soloist, she doesn't have a long career, so the fact that all she can do is bragging about her money, makes her an entitled rich kid.
