Strategic Situation in Hybe - how many acts will remain with BTS in its comeback attempt?

  • KoWith the effective departure of New Jeans, now NJZ, Hybe has the following acts

(I am not counting people like Lee Hyun or Hwang Minhyun. GFriend will stay moribund again for a long time so not counted.)

    BTS

    txt

    - under Big Hit

    Seventeen

    TWS

    -under Pledis

    Le Sserafim

    - Under Source

    Zico

    Boynextdoor

    - under KOZ

    Enhypen

    Illit

    -under Belieflab

    &Team

    - Hybe Japan

    Katseye

    - Hybe Universal

When BTS returns, I wonder how many of them would stay loyal to it to not hinder its journey.

I will exclude &Team and Katseye from discussion.

Only txt will be reliable 100%. Txt's future is related to BTS' future.

Belieflab is more or less under Hybe's direct control so Illit will be more loyal. Enhypen, not as sure as Illit.

Le Sserafim will probably be neutral.

Seventeen is unlikely to be loyal. Its members will try come back before BTS' return. TWS will follow suit.

Zico, a big unknown. Zico did hinder BTS' songs in 2019. BND will follow whatever Zico decide.

The label concept in Hybe has utterly failed ; instead of building a happy Hybe family it created a bunch of factions which would be very happy to see the other side fail.

While the threat posed by Hybe's other labels won't be as serious as the threats posed by the Australian-NZers, like Roseanne Park or Christopher Bang of SKZ, it won't help and it will make BTS lose valuable energy to deal with the inter-hybe threats.

  • "happy family".. you must be joking.

HYBE is completely going for multiple assembly line product SKUS, chucking out a new group every 6 month to an year.

They are not going to care about one SKU getting along with or getting in the way of another.

BTS, Seventeen are bit of inconveniences they have to put up with, since they have some individualistic images etc., Anyway Seventeen is starting its military enlistment phase.

Rest groups and idols, have little to no agency - at best the Izoners in LSF.

Disposable and easily replaced by the next bunch on the assembly line.

More than anything, the MJH fracas might have been due to the difference in the corporate model. MHJ is the artistic creative type, who wants to nurture a group into a long term brand with distinctiveness etc., while HYBE likes chucking out new groups faster than iphone versions, they could as well label it as Illit 1.0, Illit 2.0 or something.

So don't worry, BTS if it faces problems, it won't be from the other groups, but from the HYBE-mind itself.

Depending on how it goes, BTS will be used by HYBE-Mind to give false hopes to rest.. BTS/Seventeen are like Soylent Red, Soylent Yellow. Better not ask about Soylent Green.
